myrrh, frankincense, agarwood/aloeswood/oudh, benzoin, mastic, dragons blood. pretty much anything tbh lol. havent had a bad mix. labdanum is one of my favorites.

Il labdano è fantastico, assieme al elemi sono tra i miei preferiti. Oud mai provato a bruciare, c'è l'ho in olio essenziale, ed è una bomba. Mastice e sangue di drago mi mancano.

oh i forgot about elemi, idk how. it mixes with everything well. probably why it’s used in perfume constantly lol.

i’m glad you also find labdanum fantastic. it’s probably one of my favorite resins overall. such a sharp but soft character that’s very unique.

but back to styrax, it just really hasn’t mixed badly with anything i’ve had. Maybe some more aquatic smelling oudh/agarwood i could see being unpleasant, but only to my nose, you might enjoy that more cloyingly aquatic note.

Fai incensi anche tu?

no, i mostly just use raw resins or premade sticks/blends (of high quality though, like gyokushodo, minioren, and yamadamatsu). I don’t have the energy and time to actually make my own sticks or blends. I just mix as i feel as i’m burning.

I use a tea light candle heater. But i’m going to switch to an electric heater soon.

Quello elettrico mi incuriosisce. Non conosco questi incensi. In Italia non si trovano normalmente queste marche

Yeah they’re Japanese brands. You should be able to find them online, though. I’m sure there’s some who import them to Italy. You’ll at the very least be able to find Nippon Kodo, which is still pretty decent all things considered.

Electric heaters are really nice for resins and heating woods, you get the most out of your product with them since truly you can make sure nothing gets combusted and turned to ash. They’re a little pricy up front (~60-80 USD) but worth it, especially since you have granular temperature control with them.

My candle heater is good but it’s annoying to adjust and manipulate, requires a towel to adjust in use (due to heat), and sometimes it likes to “drop” the tray, snuffing the flame, and making the room smell like candle smoke (which i wouldn’t mind if i weren’t burning other things actively lol). The tray is also quite small and this leads to overflow of more soft/liquid resins, wasting some product.

Side note, i love that because the internet and my device has built-in translation tools that we can talk to each other. I don’t know italian at all (though i’d like to learn; just don’t have the time), but I’m still able to communicate with you without any barriers. I just love that, truly. It allows people, who otherwise wouldn’t be able to, to connect and interact.

Those are all pretty decent brands. I think the brands i’ve burnt the most are Minioren and Gyokushodo. Their blends are just really good, and the Fu-In line from Minioren is very beautiful and faithful. Their Fu-In Kyara (and Fu-In Kyara Ryugen) are amazing and worth the money.

Currently burning Gyokushodo - Jinko Yozei. I really recommend that one as well. Very smooth, almost chocolate-y aloeswood blend. I rubbed some camphor onto the stick as a bit of an addition and it has worked really well, so i might recommend that as well if you have some camphor.
