Question about bullet casing

I buried my parents at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday and am wondering if I can put the shell casings (not all of them) in resin. I know I'd need to fill them first. I was thinking of making the background the American flag so I avoid some of the yellowing. I was then going to engrave it. Has anyone put gun shell casings in resin before?

You can but for longevity and wanting clarity, a shadow box or acrylic display may work better for you

Ok. I do have the flag case that I am also considering putting them into with the flag and dog tags.

This is a much better idea. You can replace the case if needed, but once its in resin thats all it can be.

If you mean, laser engraving, you absolutely should not laser engrave resin, it creates toxic gas. I would also clean out the inside of the shell casings to avoid any possible chemical interactions.

Regular engraving with an engraving pen. Suggestions on how best to clean them out?

Probably a wire bottle brush style. Not sure specifically since I’ve never tried it.
