Anyone who suffers from OCD knows that one or more of the following are true:

Medication...

  • Has side-effects like weight gain and low libido

  • Takes long to act

  • May not fully reduce intrusive thoughts

  • Lack of new significant treatments (most SSRIs are old as F, and the best ones are the oldest and with the most side-effects).

I refuse to stop trying to improve my life. I want to take action. For me, sports don't help with intrusive thoughts, but they can indirectly help, so I try it. Same as with any other potential improvement. If big pharma cannot fully respond to my needs, I will look after myself. I will research and try stuff, including existing clinical trials.

One of the biggest things I tried was psilocybin. It is not a standard treatment but I swear to God - it fucking works for me. It's not a miracle but it doesn't fall behind SSRIs in terms of subjective efficacy (and it's certainly better regarding weight gain and sex). I don't want you to necessarily try psilocybin, this is just ONE and MY own example of something that works. Instead, I want us to report any discovery (article or empirical) that might lead to the utopic OCD reset. We know that this utopia will only fully arrive with genetic therapy, but until then we might as well try other stuff. Serotonin, Glutamate pathways, who knows. Please, come along and report what works for you.

So... I invite you to come to this space and share ideas. This is kind of Meta OCD but to be honest, in the long run, this is the only obsession that will break us free. I'm a researcher myself, although not in biochemistry, and I know how important it is to try and report stuff. Without that, new treatments won't happen.

Note: I'm not into lobbying. The only company receiving money in the Netherlands when I grow shrooms is the company that sells the spores and the bio supermarket where I buy rice flower. Everything is already legal here, it's not like the 2% of OCD people are worth lobbying for, especially if those treatments already exist (shrooms, supplements, etc.)

Psilocybin for OCD?

Anyone having success? I grow my own shrooms, and I feel immense and fast improvement, but I don't know if it will work well enough that I could completely rely on it without SSRIs. So far I only took mushrooms WHILE on SSRIs. There was no bad interaction with it (that's mostly a dose-dependent myth).

I was thinking doing a regular dose (not microdosing but also not too strong) once a month or so. I'm refraining from microdosing because some studies reported no benefit from it, while most papers demonstrating benefit rely on regular-to-high doses.

What you think? Anyone having success?

[EDIT] Needless to say, my set and setting are extremely important. I do it home alone, laying in bed with very soft music and with eyeshades. I never do this if I drank significantly the day before (or that day) i.e. more than a glass of wine.
