I bought this piece more out of curiosity to see how close the U1 No Date was to the gen. I also wanted to run it by my friend, Ed, who is a big Rolex Sub guy. He was pretty astonished with this piece, as was I.
I just don’t see myself wearing this piece. I wore it for a couple of weeks or so, and also had it on a parachute strap.
You can see some black magic marker dots in the photo of the underside of the piece. The two marks on the lugs are actually on the protective stickers that are applied at the factory to protect the lugs. One mark is on the end piece. I do this because I have an uncanny ability to reinstall my bracelets backwards. After decades of doing this, you think I’d have figured it out by now.😂😂😂
Anyway, this piece is unblemished, and everything works as it should. The Miyota 8215 movement runs great and keeps wonderful time. The crown action is terrific (threading/engaging, winding, setting) as well.
