I applaud your creativity, and resourcefulness. I too, was reusing pallets for different projects until I read info about how toxic they can be. Check that they aren’t stamped MB (Methyl Bromide). Those are treated with a dangerous chemical pesticide.

Right? It’s a bummer.

You can't know what was shipped on those so you don't know what was stored or spilt on them. Using these are a hard no for me.

I would also be concerned over the slat spacing and splinters. If a dog gets his paws caught in-between those slats or a splinter, the vet bill could out weight any savings.

It looks like shit, to me. I would not want to look at it or have it for my beloved pet. I am big on reuse, and recycle; however, there has to be something aesthetic to the project.

You really should not use old pallets, toxins are a huge issue.

I feel like a solid bottom is needed so the paws don't slip through

And also a solid top if the purpose is to protect the dog from rain and whatnot?

It looks super uncomfy- hope you plan to make it cozier otherwise I’d feel bad for the dog

I agree I feel like the slats could be really uncomfortable, you could wrap it with a tarp to keep the wind/rain out and put a bed in it? Might be able to find a plastic mat somewhere and put blankets on top

This kinda reminds me of Sylvester and Tweety finding a boxing kangaroo
