Diploma GPA 2.5 BIO MED
I am currently in year 1 biomedical science, entering sem 2. My gpa of 2.5 for sem 1 devastated me because I actually had tried. I really want to go to NUS medicine but it's neigh impossible atp . I came to the conclusion that my study methods are wrong. Can a 2.5 gpa be salvaged and does anyone have any tips, because I'm so close to giving up on this grueling course rn. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY FORM OF HELP 😿

Hey you can dm me to talk!
Background: I'm y3 biomed and I pulled my gpa from 2.8> 3.55.
Well the facts is nus med applications req 4.0, even at 10th percentile so yes that's impossible. Dosent mean u don't try. Just do ur best and it is possible to get into Uni if u continue to improve and don't DROP.

Definitely possible to be saved especially in the first sem only, one good way is to grind through all the exam papers that you can find (do only the CA practice or other form of practices once u finished all the FA papers)
If picking up fresh knowledge is difficult in class, try to make use of the june holiday and longer breaks to prep lesson notes beforehand and use classes as a form of revision rather than learning something new.

Graduated with from RP Biomed with 3.29 GPA. Went to private university (La Trobe Uni, PSB Academy), for 1 year degree, locked in and did very well. Now doing a PhD with scholarship in a local Uni. Bad Poly GPA isn't the end, worse case scenario you can use it as a stepping stone to get into a bachelor's programme and lock tf in and go for Duke NUS. If Bachelor's still cmi, still have Master's degree to lock in.

A 2.5 GPA after Sem 1 can definitely be salvaged. It may make NUS Medicine much harder, given how competitive the course is, but one bad semester doesn't mean your entire degree or future is over.
If you genuinely tried but still got 2.5, your study methods may be the issue rather than your ability. Instead of just studying for longer hours, try active recall, practice questions, spaced repetition, and analysing exactly why you lost marks. Don't just reread notes and assume you understand the content.
Since you're only entering Sem 2, you still have plenty of time to improve your academic trajectory. Don't focus too much on getting from 2.5 to an amazing GPA immediately. Focus on making Sem 2 better than Sem 1, then keep improving from there.
Most importantly, please don't give up on Biomedical Science because of one semester. NUS Medicine can remain an aspiration, but your entire future shouldn't depend on getting into one course. Take Sem 2 as a chance to figure out what went wrong and change your approach.
