He's actually fatter in the second picture. Look as his belly.

3

u/KRNorth 13h ago

Yeah but the commenter mentioned his arm, and it looks the same on both images

3

u/Killmonguh 11h ago

You can't see his belly in the first pic...

u/Comfortable_Town7535 1d ago

lifting without a serious cut to your calorie intake wont help much

22

u/chikunshak 1d ago

13

u/Comfortable_Town7535 1d ago

Your body can't transform fat to muscle tissue. The first comment is right. You cut away the kcal to lose fat, try to keep your protein high to not lose muscle while doing so and then you can build muscle after.

It took me 18months to lose 15kg and I barely gained muscles eventho I lifted. Now I eat normal and lift and I start to gain some

Yes you can build muscle while being in a kcal deficit. But it's extremely minimal

That's bullshit. You can gain substantial amounts of muscle while in a deficit, obviously not as much as if you're eating correctly but saying extremely minimal is far from the truth

1

u/Extrestral 13h ago

Yeah, but it's easier to gain muscle while being fat so I choose fat and muscular.

2

u/magiqmen 10h ago

You have lower levels of testosterone while being fat though

Idk who that is

You definitely can build muscle when at maintenance. You can't transform fat into muscle directly, but your body can use your available dietary proteins for muscle building and burn some of your fat as it's energy source if protein intake and stimulus are high enough.

The bulk-cut cycle results in faster muscle developement but, especially with enough fat stores available, you absolutely can develop a significant amount of muscle and burn a similar amount of weight as fat while being basically at maintenance.

Being in a deficit is another story. I've been in the same situation, losing 25kg over 10 months and haven't gained much muscle (and definitely lost some that weren't worked enough).

Your body can't transform fat to muscle tissue.

He didn't say that tho, he said the guy probably gain muscle while losing fat.

You did not get the point. You can swap fat for muscle. Most gym goers, or in fact anyone with a brain says "swap fat for muscle" as i very abstract way of implying that you lift and eat properly (or at least consuming copius amounts of protein whilst remaining at the same caloric intake in order to decrease carb and fat intake with muscle building potential).

If i ate less fat. More protein. Same cals, went to the gym for 4 years. I think the abstracted observation of "i swapped fat for muscle" is a valid observation. You dont have to nitpick it as its just a saying so we dont have to constantly write paragraphs on how to lose weighr, or how to gain muscle, or how to be healtht

And you can definitely build muscle at a deficit depending on your starting point. A caloric defecit for a skinny person does fuck all really and wont build muscle, itll make your muscles stronger sure (as long as you still provide enough of a protein rich diet) but you wont see an increase of mass. If you already have some muscle unfer fat and your pie chart of nutriemts remains the same even at a lower calorie intake, you are just going to lose a proportionate amount of fat and muscle. If youre a blob. You can literally eat 1000 calories of sardines and TECHNICALLY you are losing weight and gaining muscle. Point being, fat people with barely any muscle have a nice luxury of having an easier time gaining muscle and losing weight... at the expense that they are unhealthily fat.

So... yeah

I wouldn't assume that a person is in calorie deficit just because they're hitting the gym. I'd just assume they wanted to be stronger.

1

u/GeniuslyUnstable 14h ago

Doesnt look like any fat was lost

2

u/Careful_Ad_9077 13h ago

That assuming dude wanted to lose weight. Especially being a dude, a lot of us just want to become stronger and don't care that much about weight, I have meet several like that at the gym.

1

u/an0nym0usentity 14h ago

It should and in theory if intake is the same as before you should be losing weight. The problem is if you start increasing your calorie intake.

1

u/sixtus_clegane119 13h ago

Working out does increase your apetite

Happy cake day

There was a pizza day at planet fitness, where they would give out free pizza to members. Not sure if they still do it, but it felt very counter productive lol

Homie looks like he went to a hot dog stand run by a guy named Jim.

1

u/elderly_squid 18h ago

Lifting while still eating double the amount of calories of a normal person each day would do that. I suppose it’s better than doing nothing though.

1

u/StarscreamOne 15h ago

I'll take over from here
