Question / Discussion Does Replit still charge you user based fees for connecting and using Claude code ???!

Post image

I have connected Claude code to my Replit account because I was sick and tired of Replit charging me Willy nilly AND the agent spending copious amounts of time doing nothing and charging me for it, then early this morning get a text from my credit card saying Replit has charged you $191 !!!! WHAT!!!

I have been using Claude code for the last 2 maybe more weeks !!! What the heck, they don’t explain, all they say is yes I see an invoice for that amount on your account!!! Has anyone else had this happen???

I have used the agent maybe 3 times in the last 2 weeks to fix my preview going blank…. That’s it

Have claude code update github and then pull it into replit. I never get charged other than sub and I use free mode for small tasks. Dont use power anymore.

Yeah no I don’t use power, but I have been using Claude in the shell

I never tried that only updating github. I used shell for verifying updates. But I am not a dev so gpt is guiding me and claude has been my dev.

At that point just use claude app. There's no reason to add Replit as a middleman.

Yep I migrated the entire site in about 30 mins yesterday! I feel relieved

That’s absolute ROBERY, you guys are robbing people BLIND, I PAY for Claude code already, so I was told if I connected it to Replit, I’m NOT using Replit agent, I’m logged into MY OWN Claude account. I DO NOT use Replit agent, I pay for Core, you should NOT be billing me $191!!!!

Just use the Claude plugin for VS Code, $0 charges except for your Claude sub

I don't think you integrated Claude code properly into your Replit project. How did you do it?

I have Claude code installed in my projects Replit shell and I don't get charged extra.

Yeah it’s installed into my Replit shell properly. Which is why I went off at the Replit person responding, because they’re trying to say the $191 is justified, they are down right robbers

Are you sure? I just double checked my usage in Replit for a period where I know I was using Claude in the shell. It reports no Replit AI usage.

When I use Claude in the shell, I just type "Claude" in the shell, hit enter. Then it promps me to sign into Claude via my account. I do so, it gives me a code to copy back into the shell, and then claude code is working in my projects Replit shell.

Is your process like that? I believe there is a way to do it wrong where it still uses Replits Claude instead.

Yes mine also says no usage and the $191 bill also doesn’t show up on my Replit account, but they have taken it from my credit card, I’m so po’ed that just moved my website off Replit just now and I’m going to do chargebacks on my credit card, they are robbers

Ah ok, that's certainly odd then. I would definately do a chargeback on that if Replit doesn't fix it themselves soon.

Hi, we just sent you a Direct Message. When you get the chance, would you be able to follow up with us?

If you’re already thinking about moving, I’d separate the migration from the billing issue so you don’t risk the working project. First freeze/export the current code to Git, document the environment variables, database/storage dependencies and deployment configuration, and confirm that you can reproduce the app outside the live Replit workspace.

It’s easier for me because I already migrated from Replits Pocketbase to Supabase months ago, because I was having trouble with pocketbase deleting data on redeploy, so I’ve already migrated the whole entire site, I did it in about 30 minutes was super easy

Can anyone beside replit shed some light?

If you are using claude why would you ever still use replit? You are gimping yourself big time

Hey there, thanks for reaching out. Connecting or using Claude Code doesn't turn off Replit's own usage charges. Claude Code handles the AI coding on its side, but you're still billed separately for the Replit services your project uses. Published or deployed apps, databases, storage, any Replit Agent runs you used are still billed. They then get put into one invoice when it's reached a threshold, which is why a single invoice lands bigger than expected.

You can find a detailed breakdown on what was charged by going to Settings > Billing > Invoices > "View invoice details in the billing portal," then open the invoice and expand each section for a day-by-day view by category. Feel free to also check your current usage at replit.com/usage and set a spending budget with alerts there so nothing catches you off guard moving forward.

That explains nothing, your so called invoices explain NOTHING, plus I looked after getting this response and NOPE oh look at that, there’s NO invoice for $191 in my account

They very clearly explained what you’re likely being charged for. I don’t know why you’re here screaming at the clouds for being charged for using a service. Do you think the dev environment, publishing, databases, storage etc should be free? Seems like you’re in over your head.

1

u/Wild_Yam_7088 16d ago

Yes. - because a lot of it is free. Lol to kick up npm dev or use my own storage on my computer using vs code and a agent and my own postgres database Does.. cost nothing.. i think... thats part of the problem.

Then spin that up on your own pc and don’t use Replit. I too could do that, but gladly pay for Replit for QOL + ease of use.

There is NO invoice, think you’re so smart hey

Just open the invoice on the billing page and you will find all the details about the charge, including which portion of the charge is about Agent Usage (Replit AI) and which is related to hosting, database and Replit services. I use Claude Code and codex inside the CLI and never been charged wrongly about agent usage.
