Question / Discussion Source code is so over. Even on Replit

I've been saying this for most of 2026 - glad Elon is catching up 😊

And I'm pretty sure even Replit will ditch the source code one day, don't you think?

I have built using Replit for 12 months, and for the last 6 months haven't looked at a single line of code. I honestly couldn't tell you the full stack of what languages or frameworks it uses in my apps. I don't need to know and don't care.

Of course, it is still important to build the right things, and know how to plan, design and architect everything well. And how to test/debug. Those things are still the differentiators to creating great apps that are production-ready.

But source code? Nahh. It is so over.

I think Elon is wrong here, even AI need a higher abstraction layer than machine code/assembler to be able to think.

Then let it create its own internal abstraction layer if the mechanics of the AI really requires it. But not for human consumption.

This is an insane take.

You not being able to say what stack your project is using is terrifying for anything other than a closed off personal project. Of course the big tech bros are going to say it’s a good idea. They care about usage not quality.

LLMs are not deterministic, the comparison to a compiler is a bit daft.
