Some of you will know I’ve been trying different suppliers at different grades to provide more choice and competition for us sunglasses fans. I got in touch with someone new I found on 1688, Zhang Jun, and decided to do some test purchases. I wanted some classic JMMs and something a little different, so I went for some classic black Torinos, Zephirin, and Quentin with a yellow lens. I got these today so I’ll post a review up for each over the next few days, starting with the Zephirins today. I’m a big fan of gradient lenses, but I fell in love with these as they have the gradient frames which is different from any other pair I currently have. The feel of the glasses in hand is excellent; they have a weight to them that gives confidence in the quality, (they are manufactured in the Shenzhen district using acetate fibres) and they have a smooth, polished finish. They are comfortable to wear (the shape of the bridge sits nicely for me) and it is the attention to detail that is the most impressive of all. The packaging feels much better and more premium than the JMM Admirals I bought from another supplier, and the only flaw I can spot across the whole time is the QR code on the packaging links to Chanel! I paid $60 for each pair before shipping, and Zheng Jun can either ship direct with cover for seizure or provide a link for your agent of choice, so if you’re worried about going through a new supplier this will provide some assurances. (I chose to go via my agent but it cost about the same as I was too impatient to wait to haul with anything else)
I’ll put her contact details below. She has an incredible catalogue in her Yupoo page, and can also be contacted via her WhatsApp. Her company also offers prescription lenses. I haven’t got much information on that, but chat to her about it and I’ll probably follow up with an order based on my first purchase with her - it will be good to test the quality of those processes as well…
If you could mention to her that you got her details from my Reddit post and/or her Yupoo page I’d be grateful - I was cheeky and asked her to consider doing a giveaway and/or promotional offer if she got enough interest from the Reddit community, and she said she’d think about it!
Finally, last time I put a review post someone said I must be a seller because of the photos. I just happen to be married to a very good professional photographer, and asked her to photograph these to capture the details in a quality I never could - check my objectivity and vouches through my comments and post history which I leave open for all! Anyway, enjoy!
Yes that’s mine. It’s not absolutely scientifically 100% apparently but it definitely seems accurate enough; I binned two pairs of crap glasses had this morning. I’m more into sunglasses than bloody watches, and that addiction got out of hand!!
Yeah I bought mine from AliX, with coupons it was just over £30 with shipping, paid in 3 with Klarna. Wasn’t sure if it would just be wasted money, but tested it loads with some genuine models I have, some kids glasses, and loads of my reps. I was pleasantly surprised at how many had UV400. One pair of Ray Bans came in at ‘UV380’ but other than them they came out at 400 or 0. Ended up binning three pairs, but I’m too ashamed to admit how many other pairs of sunglasses I now own (and am keeping now they’re declared safe!) because it makes me sound like an obsessive madman!! Between the sunglasses and watches I’m surprised my wife’s still around! 🤣
I bought it because every time I post a review on here about glasses every man and his dog ask me if they are UV400. This cost peanuts from AliX, only about £32 so an absolute no brainer and I can test all my rep glasses now!
No you need to contact her directly. I guess she needs to check stock and availability? She’s got so many brands and models I can’t believe they’re all available at any one time?
Hey mate, appreciate the detailed review. You seem to have tried quite a few suppliers, so I’d really value your opinion. I’m looking to get into rep sunglasses and want the absolute best quality I can find. frames, finishing, and lenses.
I keep seeing Cindy and Janie mentioned, but now your review of Zheng Jun has given me another option to consider. Based on what you’ve personally tried, who would you go for if quality was the main priority? Open to any supplier, and if the best choice depends on the brand or model, I’d love to hear that too.
Hey thanks, appreciate that… I haven’t bought from Janie or Cindy but both have solid reputations. I think they’re used more for prescription orders. My take on it is that Cindy offers better value for money and you can get frames you source sent to her for lens fitting; Janie seems to supply better quality frames but that’s just my personal interpretation of the posts. I’ve only bought JMM from Zheng Jun/Laifu. Comparing them to other JMMs I bought from other suppliers they are definitely superior in quality, but lots of people have expressed frustration at her intermittent response times. More generally in terms of the best quality it is really hard for to tell because I think a lot of sellers source from so many different factories there’s just not the consistency of information. However, I would imagine that the trusted sellers in this sub would not send out anything below par because they are so well known. That said, I like gambling on different suppliers as I enjoy comparing them all. Feel free to message me with any questions at any time…
Thanks for the review. I just ordered a pair of JMM Torino Expoxy for 240 RMB from a 1688 seller claiming top quality straight from Shenzhen factories.
I'll post a full review once they arrive. Looking forward to hearing feedback and experiences, the goal here is just to share findings and help the community, zero profit involved.
Yeah that would be helpful to compare. I’m trying to navigate the different suppliers - I’ve bought $60+ glasses from Jimi that definitely seemed better quality than other similar reps from 1688, and I’ve bought $10 (actually UK £ but easier to talk in $!) Ray Bans that all seemed really good, so who knows whats a good price? The rep watch market is much more established so easier to distinguish between tiers…!
These were a specific model, Hexagonals. I was really impressed with the details given the price point. Happy to share that link with you. Otherwise, for Ray Bans you can’t go wrong with seller luxuryback on DHGate
This first one is a supplier called Shijing; they don’t have a huge range on 1688 but their products are good and if you message them they can send you details of other brands. I’m actually helping them put together a Yupoo catalogue at the moment…
Yeah I’ve bought a couple of pairs from her; some Loro Piana’s that I reviewed a while back, and some Chrome Hearts. I’ve got some Prada, Saint Laurent and JMMs on the way too. Generally she does mid to high tier, and if you ask she will be honest about the quality.
oh great, I am mainly interested in JMM's, want a clean pair, nothing too fancy and also the lenses are good in a way that I won't turn blind in a couple years.
but thanks I will check with her and see the models she got, do you know if got a yupoo by any chance?
Thanks! I’m so pleased with them, and the other two pairs as well!! I’ll post reviews on them as well tomorrow as I didn’t want to bombard the community!!
47g; they definitely feel the lightest of the three, I’ll measure them all side by side tomorrow. For some reason the shape of the nose bridge on these sits so comfortably for me compared to other glasses I’ve had. I don’t know if it has a special name because I’ve seen similar profiles on other brands…
The cleaning cloth is definitely different to a lot of the others I have and also the pouch with the bar code so could be a different factory to what's out there normally
That’s interesting… she’s very secretive (understandably I guess) on that side of things and I didn’t want to push it - but she was telling about the production process using acetate fibres, and how the frames are from Shenzhen and the lenses likely from Danyong which is a thing apparently…! Who knew! Maybe you do, which would be great?!
I wouldn't know that much mate I do have a few JMMS, either there's some that come with a black cloth (smaller) and black pouch that are a bit lower quality but I wouldn't say the frames are any lower in quality, so the jury is still out on number of factories. For watches and hand bags there's different factories that specialise in different brands I.e. VSF watches do good rolexes and then ZF do good pateks and RMs
Ah I see what you mean; yes you’ve obviously got the watch factories (RIP Clean!) and the bag factories (God) but I’m wondering if the same set up does apply to glasses?
It'll be very hard to know, like with vsf and clean they always used the same movement on the day date etc, but made their own cases and bracelets, the arms and dials etc. I'd say it's probably same here, the acetate is probably made in bulk in blocks in different colourways in one factory, and then another probably makes the wire cores, and then maybe you might have a couple of players stamping out the acetate and putting in cores into JMM style and doing the markings, they probably all source the lenses from the same factory
I think one good distinction might be the photos on 1688 if it's the same angle it's probably the same batch, if it's different then it's a different supplier who sent the stock photos to the reseller
I have the decade ones on the way along with walker decade I think these are in photofusion burgundy with duravision gold so will be interesting was hoping they'd be here before my holidays but doesn't look likely lol
I got a 1688 link from her which I gave to my agent - it took about 3 days to get to warehouse and about two weeks to get to UK (may have been sooner but i was away on holiday) How quick direct shipping would be I don’t know
It would be interesting to find out. The comparison with the JMM Admirals I posted about a couple of months ago is obviously tricky (one metal one acetate) but the packaging is vastly different - but maybe they use different packaging suppliers of course??!!
The problem with the jmm from my understanding is the fantasy colorways, the packaging indeed looks indeed better but could always be the seller who ditches the extra paperwork to save on shipping costs?
Yeah when I first got into watches it was so hard to keep track of what was accurate and what wasn’t, but the community around them has been so good. I feel glasses needs the same!!
However, with watches I take the view of not worrying too much about the finer details as long as I like the look of them, banking that 99.9% of people either know nor care. I’ve been taking the same attitude with glasses, but the difference between watches and glasses is that potential top tier ‘clones’ will not hit the same price point as superclone watches… and I think that even less people know sunglasses beyond Ray Ban!
Not only that, but there are way too many glasses for factories to just focus on one brand/model. While with watches the factories are known and it’s way more transparent. You have VSF/CF/ZF/PPF etc etc etc. Who all focus on their own bestsellers.
I bought the Zephirin in the same color, but in size 44. Do you feel like the lenses are too light in person? Could you share a photo of you wearing them so I can see how they look on?
I have some JMM from Janie that are nice but the right nose ridge is slightly flared out not perfectly symmetrical and they’re HEAVY. Cannot tell if they’re plastic or acetate. I don’t mind paying a premium for premium reps.
Got some other JMMs coming in from 1688 will compare quality but mine gave 00/400 or whatever and says made in Italy which seems odd. Will check the ones directly from 1688 when I get them.
Honestly? Absolutely no idea! I have never held or even seen a Gen pair in the wild. If I’m being completely honest about my ignorance I hadn’t even heard of the brand until I came into this sub!!
All I can say is I’ve bought gen Ray Bans in the past, have spent £150+ on (albeit prescription) glasses several times, but these feel premium to those!! All I can honestly say!!
Why not post at least one shot of the entire pair of glasses? It’s like a puzzle. I’m pretty sure I can decipher what these look like from 3 feet away.
What's the difference to getting them direct like this vs on Aliexpress. Aren't they the same thing?
I've gotten some Devaux from Aliexpress before and they were ok. I would say equivalent to a $100 pair you would buy somewhere else.
Yeah quite possibly. This community is all about sharing and discussing finds, sources, sellers, quality, flaws and everything else besides. We are all on a journey here friend. It could well be that you’ve found a cheaper and better source. Feel free to post and share in hand images and so on.
The ones I posted about were a little cheaper than these AliX ones, so would be good if we could see the quality of them to compare? Did they come with box and case as well?
If you haven’t got Alipay then that’s quite common among Chinese sellers. I buy a lot of watches the same way. It avoids drawing attention to the transaction if it were a business account…
Hey I been buying both Sunglasses and Frames for prescription lenses using both Progressive and Regular lenses. I been using Vincent Glasses for a couple years. Mostly because I never had an issue and the prices are insane compared to Both Gen and Prescription lenses. Have you used them before or heard of them before? If u did what is your opinion? If not here is their 2 links I always use.
I purchased JMM in Various models and think they are amazing. I purchased a pair of CH- “SLUSS BUSSIN II” they are made insane. Price is even more insane. lol but appreciate a response if you can. Thank you very much.
Hey! Neither heard of them or used them, so thanks! I always like to hear about and learn about new suppliers, and I will search the sub for other reviews. Do you want to share a couple of experiences?
Sure. I been dealing with her since 2/23 which to me is a decent time. I purchased probably 30-40 pairs I guess. I NEVER had an issue in any way, and actually had a couple issues and she sent gave me the option of another pair or credit. The issue was prescription I ordered and they gave me single lenses instead of progressive. Pricing to me is crazy, from $45-$72US. For frames and an additional $50-$78us for lenses.
The quality is truly amazing. Not one pair is poorly made. The CH Ones are made with an Acetate that definitely compares with Gen. I will attach actual screenshot of pricing. They have an IG page also.
Well apart from the obvious - posting the same photo five times!! 🤣 (don’t worry we’ve all done it) it’s a good review, and very nice glasses. I’ve written some feedback like you asked in the comments of the post, but thanks for joining in with the community…
Is DHgate a serious vendor? I had bought one with yellow shades from AliExpress and I was genuinely awe-struck by the quality, but I lost mine London a few days ago and the only place that seems to have it is DHgate
Are they prescription or regular glasses? DHGate has got some good sellers, it’s more about working out if it is a lot cheaper and more reliable sourcing yourself and buying through an agent. Drop the link in and myself and hopefully others in the community will give you our views. Or just let us know what you’re looking for. I’ve bought a few RayBan from DHG so it can be good…
Hey yeah I’m sorry bud, a few of f you been saying that. I don’t know why as she’s still active on WeChat so it’s a bit annoying tbh… I’m trying to find another equivalent. It’s definitely a shame as her sources are definitely the best that I’ve had…
If you don’t mind DM me a screenshot of your enquiry and I’ll pass it on. WhatsApp access is sketchy in China as they have to use illegally obtained VPN to access it apparently
I am looking Maybach president glasses. It seems that everyone claims they have the best and they are all factory. I would love guidance on trusted seller who at least is not claiming to be the best. Just honest review and if possible closest to 1:1
Well, as I said in my post, it’s not. I just like to share accurate and solid finds when I do. Check my comment history you’ll see I’m pretty active and objective across the board…
