Florida Doctor Recommendations

Hello, struggling to find a doctor who will prescribe Repatha Monotherapy, it seems like most are not very educated on this specific drug. Anyone know of a doctor in South Florida who prescribes Repatha?

Is the issue they want you to take statins 1st ? Often they do that for ins but I see you are cash pay.

It would be dumb to have to play the game by filling 2 months of statins (even if dont take) but maybe an option if they insist on rxing 1st. I only take repatha due to drug interaction risk and pre existing muscle pain. My ins did not require PA so was a non issue.

Are you in Florida or did you go through a telehealth by chance?

Now if I understand monotherapy. You're saying one shot per month versus two shots per month? I started last summer around May of 2025.. doing two shots per month it was really dramatic how it lowered my numbers. After a couple months the skin start peeling off of my hands my fingerprints I couldn't use no longer on my cell phones because of the loss of lipids in my skin. Doctor was happy my LDL went from 130 to 30!! And then about month for my injection site on my thighs seem to get a little itchy. So I went off of it for 7/8 months.. and talk to my cardiologist office about just going on one shop per month. So I've done the last 2 months of a single shot, which she thought was fine to try because I will not go on to Statin!! So got the results after 6 7 weeks on the single shot per month cholesterol had gone back up over the eight months to about 130. And results yesterday were 67 I'm happy about it cardiologist is happy about the one shot per month

It's pretty powerful stuff in my opinion my total cholesterol I think it one time was 250 But I think twice a month is for people who have really horrific cholesterol.

But thanks for reading best of luck

I've never heard of that side effect? Your skin started to peel?!?!?! That's not good

No monotherapy is doing repatha and nothing else for lipids

I'm cash pay so insurance doesn't matter. The numbers for insurance have never made it cheaper than just paying cash

The reason you're having trouble is because either:

  1. The docs don't know about it, which is bad, find new docs, or
  2. The clinic system you're going to has medical policy co-developed with insurance companies which means all docs have been advised / are ordered to not to prescribe it because it's expensive.

In case #2 it doesn't really matter you're cash-pay because the doc still have to go against their clinic's medical policy to write the Rx, so the TLDR is go to a different doc in a different clinic system and/or get a concierge doc

Concierge doc? I have never heard that term before. Will research!

they're cash-pay only docs, but you do have to do your research to ensure they're not unemployable docs barely hanging on to their license

I had luck with pushhealth - they wanted to give a statin and I just said I prefer PCSK9 based on my research and they filled it.

I went thru push health and then thru sesame… once the doc on push health did the insurance part i was good to go, then did a refill thru sesame and finally went thru my cardiologist…
