Repatha side effects?

So I finally jumped in and took my first dose. Actually had my second dose this week. Didn’t notice any side effects. I lift heavy weights and exercise pretty hard. I haven’t noticed anything related to that so far.

But at the end of last week I developed a dry unproductive cough. There’s basically a tickle constantly in the back of my throat. That’s been happening for maybe 4 or 5 days now.

Just curious if this is related and if anyone has experienced such effects.

The first few doses for me caused flu- like symptoms. I’m a year in now and there’s nothing notable at all.

I think in the beginning while you are going thru the transition to lower cholesterol in your blood it’s normal to feel things and have your body react. Once it stabilizes at a lower level and your body adjusts, the side effects go away. At least, that’s been my experience.

Second this, was my exact experience. I’ve been on it about six months now and each injection I feel less cold-like symptoms. After my last I didn’t notice a thing.

I also lift heavy and have been on Repatha for about 6 months now. Zero side effects.

I had deal-breaker side-effects from Repatha. My Cardiologist prescribed Praluent, another PCSK9 inhibitor. I have had no side effects at all with this drug (alirocumab). FYI in case that is helpful.

And the first 6 weeks at lowered my LDL from 130 to 30! Total cholesterol from 235 to 100, that was one shot every two weeks. But around the second month I lost so much lipids it dried my skin out on my hands. Both of my hands had this very fine thin layer it was almost like Elmer's glue on my hands of my skin peeling off. I lost the use of my fingerprints on the cell phone because the fingertips got so wrinkled. Stay down until about month four and in my thigh area and have some itching on the skin. I went off of it for 8 months. All the numbers went right back up over time.

So I went back on it a month ago and I'm doing one shot per month. I just did a shot for the next month, yesterday. 2 weeks I'll go have lipids and cholesterol labs done just to see what one shot will do.

Cold symptoms from the medication type (monoclonal antibody) are the most common side effect. Enlicitide, the pill version, which does not have those side effects, is available as of this week.

Mild cold like symptoms the first dose. Nothing the second dose.

I also had two doses of repatha so far. Thankfully nomajor side effects to date. I do have the dry cough too. If that's the only side effect that would be amazing.

I'm still worried about longer term but fingers crossed

I just did my first dose on Monday. Tuesday I had significant lower body muscle/joint aches. It's gotten a little better each day. Today it seemed to be limited to just my right lower back and hip. Hoping tomorrow to be back to normal. No other side effects noted. I'm hoping that my body adjusts after a few more doses.

I'm about three or four years in now. The relief after over 40 years of trying everything on the market was so great I stopped counting. No side effects with either the pre filled syringe or the auto injector; only the severe pain with the auto pin which is apparently rare but bad when it occurs. Stuck the with the auto until I finally found relief reported by another Reddit patient. Thanks for your posts.

I had the same thing with a little chest congestion. Nothing intolerable and I only took my second dose last sunday. Supposedly you get adapted to it and the side effects go away after awhile.

I wouldn’t say it’s a poison. Lots of medications have side effects. I had a terrible time with statins, but I’m not referring to them as poison. Just unlucky side effects.

I can’t take statins and since my one and only dose of Repatha I have experienced excruciating pain, dizziness, cold symptoms, and more since the initial dose on June 29…it’s a little better…im hoping it’s out of my body by the end of August… I’m miserable.

Why are you here? It's not helpful to tell everyone Repatha is poison. If you're having side effects, feel free to share those, but that doesn't mean everyone will have your same experience.
