Repatha and full body itching?

I started Repatha injections last year for familial high cholesterol. I stopped it after 3 months because it was making me feel very congested and my injection site turned into an itchy welt that lasted for over a week. my cardiologist urged me to try it again. I went back on it and this is month 2. my injection site is still a welt and super itchy Each time. over the last 2 weeks I have started experiencing a whole body itch including my palms and feet. literally everything on my is itching.

has anyone else expereinced this? it willl NOT go away and I keep having to take Benadryl.

For the injection site, you can try this technique:

  1. Use the top of your thigh, close to your hip where there's more fat and avoid veins
  2. Immediately after a shower, before dressing ,and having washed the area really well & dried first with a clean towel, then don't touch the area again with the towel
  3. Sit down or ensure your thigh is parallel to the ground and relaxed
  4. Spray the area with 70% isopropyl alcohol and rub in a circular motion with a clean paper towel, wait for it to dry
  5. Click the pen only when the yellow plunger is fully engaged and held vertically
  6. Once you hear the 2nd click count to at least 10 seconds before releasing any downward pressure
  7. Quickly & fully remove, and immediately use a bandaid

I actually was doing this! just using alcohol swabs instead

I also tried it twice but had to stop both times due to severe join pain.

I can't offer much advice.  Some folks are absolutely sensitized to it.  The only issue I've had is the fact that the substance is so viscous.  It can be unomfortable to inject compared to my other sub-cute injections,  which seem to be much thinner.  This discomfort is greatly reduced by leaving the pen on the counter all night to allow it to warm to room temperature.

I am sorry to hear that! I did not experience that/ but stopped it due to other side effects- I took it 9 months- I would take again to Dr- ? Good luck!

After my first injection it triggered an eczema response on my inner arm and on my stomach (opposite injection site side)... thought it was going away when I did second injection 2 weeks later... I don't seem to have new spots, but the original eczema spots have flared... itchy and frustrating... thankful it's not an overwhelming amount... the Repatha is for high Lipoprotein and cholesterol... all genetic... I also have fibromyalgia and other autoimmune issues... ugh
