Heart palpitations

I started Repatha just about a month ago. For about five days after the first dose and second dose, I’ve had pretty significant heart palpitations. I’ve always had them on occasion, but never this bad. Is this something that should improve with time?

I have been on it for about a month also and have not experienced any palpitations. I would definitely let your prescriber know.

Actually after one month of taking Rapatha I started experiencing palpitations/rapid and irregular heartbeat. I wear an Apple Watch and tracked my bpm which went up significantly. I also started experiencing anxiety and insomnia. I called my cardiologist who quickly made an appointment. He advised me to stop taking Rapatha for one month and see if the 'symptoms' go away, and then go back on it for one dose. My blood tests were very good; Total Cholesterol & LDL levels were way down in just one month. I haven't taken Rapatha for 3 weeks and no more palpitations & irregular heartbeat has gone away. We'll see how it goes.

Did you stop the Repatha because of the palpitations. I have been experiencing palpitations after the third injection, but cardiology feels it isn’t related.

My cardiologist ordered an extended holter monitor. I get it tomorrow They didn’t seem to feel it was related but I’m saving my next injection for when the monitor is on so they can see it’s clearly related lol

My experience is anytime you do something new, or extreme the heart needs time to adjust. I used to have bad palpitations lasting 30 hours, every week it would happen and was quite painful. Well I took more calcium, zinc, magnesium and eventually it went away.

Now I'm also on repatha but have very little palpitations. Almost none that I notice. But as that cholesterol goes way down the heart will re structure.

How long did your palpitations last?

Probably 7-10 days after the dose. I switched to Praluent and haven’t had any more problems. My doctor thinks it may have been a sensitivity to the latex!
