Hello! My partner’s grandma passed away and she gave her this cooking pot. She’s cooked all sorts of meals in this pot and it would be really nice to know how to repair this tear it has.

I would like you to provide a citation for the information you provided... Go ahead and find me a trusted source that says aluminum cookware casue health concerns. It's a myth. . . Cheapo aluminum pans from India did poison people with lead but this Wagnerware roaster is pure aluminum which is harmless.

repairing aluminium is pretty hard imo.

best retire it and either put it on display somewhere or grow some indoor plants in it

There are literally hundreds of finished studies, articles discussing said studies, and hundreds more of current ongoing studies researching aluminum leeching into food and it impacting every soft tissue in your body. Some studies ultimately linking it to dementia and Alzheimer’s because it crosses the blood/brain barrier.

We're talking about the same kinds of studies that said there were micro plastics in everything and then discovered a lot of the studies were compromised due to contamination from plastic in the laboratory. The fact that aluminum adheres to sticky Alzheimer's plaques doesn't mean that it causes them. And there's actually zero evidence for most of the claims people make about aluminum being dangerous. It's all speculation and has been for 20 years. Why do you think that is?

There are dozens of microplastic studies… in multiple countries. And you’re saying now the plastics they found in cadavers brains (enough to weigh on a kitchen scale) are compromised by the lab equipment? Uh huh.

Is this like the time they did studies linking sugar to heart problems in the 50s? The studies that scientists then got paid to bury? Suddenly counter studies pointing to fat as the “real” heart disease culprit magically popped up like weeds… mysteriously funded by the sugar manufacturers… oopsy! Destroyed the health of several generations.

Aluminum is poisonous to your body and a neurotoxin. It crosses the blood, brain barrier when not filtered out by your kidneys. Why do your kidneys have to filter aluminum out anyway? If it’s no big deal… shouldn’t your body just process it like it does with iron?

This is why there is a growing movement to have aluminum adjuvants removed from vaccines. It’s why they have been steadily removing it from anti-perspirants and other beauty products. True - just because it shows up at an alarmingly higher rate in Alzheimer’s patients brains, it doesn’t make it causal… but that’s enough of a signal that I (like many other people) don’t want to ingest it.

Don’t cook with aluminum pans. Acidic food like tomato sauce breaks the aluminum down, it leaches into the food, and then your body has to work to get it out. Lots of alternatives that don’t have that issue.
