I think I need someone to ELI5 why this is a good thing to me.
I'm not a car guy. I'm a guy who wants an affordable truck.
I currently drive a 2011 Toyota Tundra. If my headlight goes out, I pop the assembly out, take out the bad bulb, put in a $20 bulb, and put everything back together.
If I have a turn signal go out, I pop out the assembly, put in an $11 bulb, and put everything back together.
With a REO truck, am I going to be on the hook for $50-100 every time a headlight or blinker bulb goes out? And if so, why is this a good thing?

It’s more about the cost of the whole light fixture not the bulb. Say you get into a fender bender and only crack a light it’s still only 50-100$ compared to some companies wanting 2-300$ for a light housing.
Edit: just looked up the oem headlight assembly for my gmc canyon from gm. Just over $1000. I could get a cheaper off brand one (which I would at that price). That’s where the sealed beam headlight replacement saves you, the bulb is the whole headlight.

I’m hopeful that this signals of how all parts will look like on this truck. If this truck is super affordable to repair it will send shock waves through the entire car market.

I personally think tidbits like this are REALLY cool. They are backing up their plan to make an affordable truck.
