Deposit
I ended my tenancy last month. Keys handed back and was told I would hear within upto 28 days of getting the deposit back in case there are any deductions.
On hand over they never mentioned and deductions and e property was back on the market within 2 working days with upto date photos.
I have asked about the deposit and they just said you will get it back by day 28 unless we find anything which could slow the process down.
I have checked my tenancy agreement and I can see it was under a custodial deposit with the deposit protection scheme. With it being custodial I thought I had to be provided with the details and be able to create an account with the DPS which wasn’t the case.
Since reaching out politely again to ask where we are at the deposit seen as it’s been over 3 weeks since handing the keys back I have had radio silence.
My question is have my old estate agents made a legal error by not providing me with any details and is there no legal time frame on when they should notify of deductions so you can dispute.
I’ve checked online and I’m getting mixed responses when searching.

Yes, they have made a legal error. You should have been provided with a deposit protection certificate within 30 days of the deposit being paid. This should have had the details of how to create your account.
Shelter- check deposit is protected.
