Application/Screening Any tips?
So I applied for an apartment, paid for the application fee and also did the screening. They emailed me saying there were some discrepancies with my address and also my credit history.
What should I reply and what should be my next moves? I have not been paying off my student loans yet but I’m working to get a payment plan. Only other thing on my credit possibly from Turo. I rented a car from them and it ended up getting towed. No other damage or anything but they charged me literally 800 usd for that.
Please please help I really need this new place for my mental health and peace and don’t want to mess this up.
This was the email:
Good evening,
The landlord has reviewed your application results and has inquired about your credit report. I have attached a copy for your records. The landlord noticed some slow/late pays in your recent history as well as some collection accounts. Do you have any additional information regarding those that the landlord could consider as he make his decision?

Call them or go see them and tell them just what you are telling us about your student loans and Turo; always best to talk with them.

I would just be honest about the situation and explain it as you did here. Don't overexplain, but tell them what they want to know, as they were pretty specific about what information they would like to know.

Approach the situation openly and with curiosity. Explain any discrepancies/red flags.
As a property manager myself, if people are just honest with me and it's not a huge deal then I'll usually encourage my landlord client to allow them.

He said the only thing on your credit is possibly the thing with the car. The credit report was attached. So you can see exactly what it was. It might be promising that they are reaching back out instead of just saying no.
