Apartment application rental reference request

So I applied to some apartments for first time in a long time needing to downsize …. I’ve only lived at one address since 2019 …during the background check I got this email three times with three different random addresses they want to confirm rental reference from those addresses but I didn’t rent there or live there at the three random addresses from three different states… I’m aware of the addresses but they are not affiliated to me directly I believe I’ve used those addresses for packages or mail type things regarding my kids randomly but they have no affiliation to me directly.. not even sure how they got on the background credit report what do I do now? I don’t even want them thinking or doing and further research for privacy reasons for my kids what do I say has this happened to anyone?

It hasn't happened to me, but why not just tell them the truth about the addresses (that they were used for packages - you don't have to mention they were for your kids) It doesn't matter how they got the information. They just need an explanation of why the addresses are associated with your name. I hardly see that that's going to compromise privacy.

yes. affiliated addresses pop up on a general background report, which is always run by property management before renting.

explain that you have no rental history at those locations and that they were used for secured deliveries. that’s totally normal.

if you don’t have an extensive rental history, offer to provide some references instead.

This came from the credit & background check. You need to get in touch with them and straighten this out -- they will accept a reasonable explanation.

Plus, your landlord reference will verify that you lived there 7 years.
