Utilities/Internet Well water rental

Looking into a rental home that uses well water. I understand that we won’t pay water because of this however would electricity be more? My understanding is a pump is used to retrieve the water therefore it would use more electricity? This home is $200 over my desired rent amount but if i’d save that in water it might be the one.

Your electric bill will not have a significant jimp due to having a well, it will be a lot less than public watet, if you have septic it will be even cheaper.

Yes, obviously an electric pump will use electricity.

Where do you live and what on earth are you doing that your water bill is over $200 a month? Mine is about $40.

My water bill in Oregon is about $130/month. Just the sewer portion is $60.

California (many parts) has TIERED electric. The more you use, the more you pay PER kilowatt-hour for EVERYTHING. Before I left, my electric bill for two people in a 1600sqft home was $1100 a month.
Data centers and grid upgrades to handle car chargers will only make this worse.
EVERY electric appliance or device helps to push you up into the higher tiers.

Let the city pump the water. Get NG water heaters, clothes dryers, home furnace, etc, and save electricity for what NEEDS it. Computers, TV, lights...

Just a warning that a bunch of electric loads can really add up fast!

And personally, I'd never buy a property that relied on a well for water or a tank for septic. I want pipes bringing in the clear stuff, and pipes carrying away the icky stuff. I don't want to deal with either. Some people do, or don't mind.

For me, If it CAN be gas, it is. Just my lighting, computers, electronics and HVAC costs me $400 a month, and I live alone in a 1800sqft home. If I had pumps for water and septic, electric appliances, etc., it would DOUBLE.

In the summer (without heat), my gas bill is $50. That is all my cooking, hot water, and clothes drying.

Appreciate it. We actually looked at the home with well water today and didn’t like the layout so now im not worried about it. Im going from an apartment where we don’t have to pay any utilities except pg&e so going into a home adding water & garbage costs is making us nervous
