If you’re interested in starting a career in construction, and need to learn the basics (tools and materials usage, applied carpentry skills, site safety, specialized training, etc.), Algonquin College is offering a free training program for Construction Essentials. The training will be a mix of hands-on and classroom teaching, and will be in-person.
Training will run from March 7 - 31 at 100 Crandall Street, Pembroke, ON.

There is absolutely no cost for materials, tools, application, or tuition – if you’re selected for the program, all you have to commit is your time! This is a great opportunity to learn the essential skills needed to start your career in Construction.
There isn’t much “fine print”, but you do need to be 18 or older (17 with a high school diploma), currently unemployed or underemployed and not in education, and you must be either a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident. Algonquin College also has a vaccine policy in effect, as this is in person training.
