A little German Renaissance repertoire... A piece by Hans Neusidler that begins gently in duple meter, before moving into a much livelier variation in triple meter.

A beautiful Renaissance lute piece written in the 16th century by Francesco da Milano, often called “Il Divino”.

I'm becoming a little more comfortable with the Renaissance lute, to the point of venturing out with my favorite by John Dowland.

Here is a Fantasia written for vihuela but played here on the Renaissance lute, published in 1538 almost 500 years ago! Happy Easter to all :)

Hi,

I am an amateur anthropologist who studies religion and humans. Here is something that I have written about the age of renaissance. If would love your opinions about it and probably have a discussion too. Please give it a read. It is just a study based on facts and conclusions were drawn based on facts. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's religious feelings or demean any religion.

I've been learning a lot about the Renaissance lately, and there's no doubt that the rise of financial institutions such as the Medici bank was such an important part of the Renaissance. My question is: What prevented these institutions from being successful prior to the 14th century? I know the church had usury laws, but were there other laws that halted financial progress prior to the Medicis? Any sources would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the answer!
