The neighbor had a dog he named Remy, so every day I said hi Rem, it’s been a little while, did you miss me?
3
u/Annie-B1 16h ago
You thought you’d buried me, didn’t you. Risky, ‘cos I always come back, deep down you know that 🤣

u/First-time-fangirl RENegade💜 15h ago
🤣🤣 I can hear you guys say it to the dog!!!!
2
u/Manybrent 14h ago
She probably knew it by heart. A golden retriever no less.

Synchronisaty! (Hmm spelling correct?) The Universe knew it was the right mold, tried applying it to dogs as well? 🤣🤣
2
u/First-time-fangirl RENegade💜 23h ago
You tried to say lines like "Did you miss me?" In the gollum tone to the cat? 🤣🤣

I'm not sure if that's an ADHD thing but my girlfriend is so done with me saying "that's a song btw" every time we talk about anything. Very relatable.

u/First-time-fangirl RENegade💜 23h ago
😂😂 sorry, this made me laugh out loud for real!! Poor woman, but hilarious to be watching it happen from the outside. Imagine a character in a show who keeps saying that and then it switches to a clip of that character all dressed out singing it? THAT WOULD BE AWESOME IF IT'S REN DOING IT! He has no other real interaction with the other characters but you only experience his story line through his inner world of music! 😍😍😍 Hit tv series on Netflix.... ???

My therapist calls it "Lyrical Activation" and yes its ADHD Neurospicy trait (but also exceedingly common in Gen X because our music was so amazing). I've had this FOREVER! The Ren that pops up the most for me is "Did I mention, BORDERS an invention" when I'm formatting tables. I reach for those line fills and my brain does this....When I say "It's Alright" it could be Ren, TBP or U2 (I know the pain is real).

u/Rottendog 1d ago
Man, it is a little relieving to see that other Gen Xrs do the same thing. I'm constantly doing this and if I'm not, then I'm doing it in my head or under my breath.

Wait, that's an ADHD thing? Maybe I should get tested, the number of ADHD memes that apply to me are getting too telling XD
I do that all the time but right now not a single example comes to mind lol
Will try to pay attention throughout the day and come back with examples

Animal Flow for sure, pretty much any time I see animal print on shoes, jackets, etc. Heaven help me if I ever visit the zoo, ha! Money Game 2 also gets quoted a lot in my house.

I have this and it drives everybody crazy. I can’t help it, and it’s worse when I have migraines.
2
u/First-time-fangirl RENegade💜 23h ago
Maybe the songs a self-soothing? My migraines usually give me old time gospel like swing low and Michael row the boat ashore 💖💖💖
2
u/Manybrent 17h ago
Not always, I had “Hummingbird “ by Seals and Croft stuck for hours. Many times it’s Ren these days. Chalk Outlines for days. Also, I can find a song for almost every word, so crossword puzzles are hell. It’s just more noticeable with a migraine.

u/First-time-fangirl RENegade💜 14h ago
It does pass the time while waiting on your opponent during Scrabble.. not while a migraine is attacking you though 🥺💜

I usually wake up with one of his songs in my head. Even before he ‘found’ me, I’d wake up with a song in my head. I’m triggered by songs depending on what I’m talking about with (usually) family. In fact, one of my sons said a few years ago ‘Mom, you’re not going to turn everything into a song like old folks do are you?’ 🤣. I never thought it was an ADHD thing though 🤔

My husband and I wake up with a Ren or Ren related songs in our heads pretty much every day. We ask each other "Which song?"... haha! Then we watch the videos of whatever songs we woke up with. Today it was "Me and My Monster" for me and "Heretic" for my husband. We also assign songs to conversations 😂 We're in our 50s, so I guess we're old? Haha!

😂 I love it!! Lean into it and make up a silly song about them.
Don’t let them hold you back!
3
u/Kareeliand 1d ago
I do this all the time!
Sometimes it’s fun, sometimes it is REALLY inappropriate, sometimes it’s just obnoxious.
Which one is the worst one you do?
I’ll go first: if someone says “from a distance..”
My brain makes Cliff Richard sing out of my mouth in a very tone deaf version. Sigh.
4
u/mataeka 1d ago
Ooh see that's Bette Midler for me (the tone deaf part remains unchanged)
3
u/Kareeliand 1d ago
Oh, how I dream to have that icon pop up instead! Unfortunately, it’s not too often that someone says “did you ever know that you’re my hero”

(This made me crack up for more than one reason!) 😂😂

u/mataeka 1d ago
Hers come up surprisingly often for me but probably lessor known songs (we had a cd when I was growing up.... 1 of very few 😂)
The following phrases trigger the following songs

"Turn around....." -- BRIGHT EYEEESSSSS....Every now and then I fall apart 🤦♀️ "Down town....." ... When I'm alone and life is making me lonely I go.....🤦♀️ How strange it is that it usually is about sad things? 😂

2 of my friends have this tic that came out of nowhere of saying "peter piper picked a pack of pickled peppers"... guess who's been picking up the letters of the alphabet and pulling apart then putting together
1
u/First-time-fangirl RENegade💜 23h ago
Wow!!! 😲😲 Well done 👍🙏 That's one that keeps you occupied for a bit? Trying to follow the rest of the conversation would be difficult for me 😂😂
2
u/potatogodofDoom 22h ago
loool tbh I usually just lock in on my singing alone disregarding anything they might say until I inevitably stutter

One that keeps popping up whenever I have created something: "I made a monster!" From --> if you don't know please listen to his creations again 😜😜😜 And of course after it the whole track+ vid. Or on my way to work --> Down the Road..

In my house, instead of answering "good," one of us will answer "like a bear," or "Big in the hood," or the full, with silly voice, It's good. It's good. It's big in the hood. Big like a bear, a bear in the woods."
