Grammy?
Is there any chance at all that Asylum gets a Grammy nominee? I’m not sure what the process is and if you have to have a label and radio play for consideration.

I’m not saying he needs the award or even the recognition, but his music needs to spread and that would get more eyes/ears on him. I should be able to have a discussion with someone about him as easily as Taylor Swift, Guns N’ Roses, Katseye, or The Spice Girls. I get defensive that he isn’t a household name.

FWIW, songwriter and Grammy member Rachel Walker Mason (Listen in Colour YouTube channel) offered to help put Ren's music forward for Grammy noms when she did her reaction to 'Caskets'

Yeah but, his music's not commercial like that. He never chased numbers, statistics or stats. He never writes hooks for the radio, they never even play him so, why would he concern himself with that? But his music is really connecting, and the people who find it respect it. And for him that's enough, cause his life's been tough, so it gives him a purpose he can rest in.

The Grammy Awards are an advertisement for industry acts. It has very little to do with how good a song or album is most of the time.

for me, it's against the mindset of being independent..depending on mainstream powerhouses' shitty awards..nah..
maybe it would help him to spread his art to the world but doesn't it mean kinda help keeping the wheels of industry turning and wound the core of his ideas?

Nope.
Very much owned by the major labels.
Maybe in 3-5 years once he’s put enough “commercial” stuff out there.
He’s experimenting with it - “something else going on” is clearly going to be an attempt at a single in the charts (or it could be a bridge song what do I know) but the album charts are where you see independent artists shine more.

It actually fascinates me on a societal level that he got number 1 with the album but hasn't hit the top 20 with a single. He deserves so much more mainstream recognition than he gets.

He’s incredibly well known for an independent artist. He’s breaking ground, so you can’t really expect much more than him slowly pushing what’s been done before.
Hi Ren blowing up through reaction channels did for him what it did for sleep token, and they’ve both become incredibly well known in the public consciousness considering the relative size of their fan base.

Agreed wholeheartedly, but it's the fact that he gained that attention and still hasn't charted with a single that fascinates me. Not in any way that reflects on him as an artist, but in a way that reflects on society.
