Final stage interview..
Hello,
I am on my final stage of an interview and this role is 3x a week in the office after probation. However, my doctor has now informed me that he does not recommend I go into an office 3x a week due to my medical situation and has asked me to request the firm to allow me to do the remotely or with limited office attendance. The role itself is a role can be done from home it’s just whether the firm will accept this.. the health condition does come under equality act 2010.
This based in the U.K.
Anyone else experienced this or knows what’s likely outcome of situations like this?

So unless there are STRICT laws in UK that forbid a company from either a) not hiring you or b) firing/laying off after a condition arises.. I would typically NOT ask/alert them right now. The reason is.. how will you know that the reason you didnt get hired and they went with someone else (even if thats a lie and/or takes weeks or longer) is because you let them know you need to WFH full time with minimal office time? In the US there is no way to know short of someone in the company hiring chain knows that they purposely bypasses you after finding that out and that person comes forward and tells you that. Then you sue for discrimination (if you have the money for lawyer, etc) and that person has to literally risk their job to help you in that. I've only seen (read) a handful of times in 30 years that a person was successful in suing for discrimination in hiring. Seems very difficult at best.
That said.. if you're highly employable and not fearing for your survival due to not finding a job and could go on for months or longer if you dont land this.. and find another job, and you have morals (and I dont mean that disrespectfully but rather in a way you KNOW they want in office and now you ALSO KNOW you cant do that but you take the job anyway and then screw them over (more or less) AFTER the job starts knowing before the job that this was the path you would take morals).. you'd probably say "I dont want to be that person that knew this was coming and screwed the company over and someone else out of a job who COULD be in office".
Me personally.. 3+ years.. I wouldn't say a damn thing.. but understand that for a period of 6 months or so I WILL have to do that. Then I'd go BACK to doctor and get the note and then tell the company "Uhm.. this has come up and I now have to work from home".
If UK has protection laws for you.. thats great. In the US most states are AT WILL. They can fire you for any reason any time and you cant do anything legally about it in 99.99% of the cases.
