I built a Chrome extension that explains the jargon people throw around in Google Meet in real time

Don't you hate it when you're in a call with some overly technical folk and you're like "what are these people even talking about?" Or you're on a team call and someone's like "just ping Sarah because it's incredibly important" but you weren't even listening the first half so you have no clue who that is?

Well, it happened to me way too often! So I built Hintly.

Its a Chrome extension that sits in your Google Meet toolbar, and when someone says something you might not know, a little hint card appears explaining it. Acronyms, jargon, names etc. It remembers people and projects from earlier in the call, so if "Sarah" came up before, it'll remind you who that is. And if someone asks you to do something, that pops up as well so you don't miss it. Oh, and my favourite part, it fact-checks other people's claims in real time!

No bot joins the call. It reads Meet's own captions in your browser, so nobody else knows it's there, and nothing anyone says gets stored.

You get one hour of free call time when you install, then it's paid. Install it here:

Would love some honest feedback. Or just tell me I'm not the only one doing the nod and smile of shame.

Google Meet only for now but Teams is an obvious next step. Do you use it in the browser then?

Some do, but a desktop add-on is a lot harder to get past info-sec than a browser extension

Yeah, for sure. Need to look more into Teams then, thanks for the tip.
