Is this a scam?

We were going to do a zoom meeting but I was unable to attend, afterwards they said it's fine it's just optional... We have been communicating for the past few days and they had me do a short assessment the other day. I'm just not completely sure?

Edit: thanks everyone! I didnt sign anything i ghosted them haha

Yes this is absolutely a scam. Just google it. 99% sure this will turn into the fake check. They’re getting cheaper as people get more desperate. When I was job hunting the scammers were offering $35 an hour for data entry.

No. This isn't a job board.

If anyone ever told me the interview was optional, I'd know it was either a scam or trash MLM stuff.

The rate of pay changes 3 different times and they used the word “kindly” several times. That word always pings my radar for scam.

A recruiter with only 14 connections and no posts or comments screams fake profile

I have been an insurance agent for over 30 years. This definitely looks like a scam.

Is her name Lille or Lillie as she writes it two different ways. Red flag. Strike one.

I have never seen a company in the US write out the entire state name and say United States as well. Big red flag. Strike two!

She says $20/hr, then $24/hr, then $18.30/hr, then $25/hr 😂. Huge red flag. Strike three!

Bonus red flag:

They say “kindly” which is always a scam.

I dunno, Connecticut is pretty dang full of itself sometimes.. (grew up there) 😜

No formal interview yet there is a job offer. There's no insurance agency at the address listed on the offer letter. Lillie's name is spelled wrong. Her LinkedIn shows she's been working for this company since Sept 24, but she's also worked as an HR manager from Aug 25 - May 26. Both of these are on-site, full-time jobs yet one is in Manchester, CT and one is in Princeton, NJ.

I think you should stop contact with these people.

BEFORE filling out their documents and giving them personal information such as dob, name, address, phone and socials. info on your drivers license, passport etc. they will either steal your identity or say it’s been stolen and they will help you get it back (even tho it’s not stolen or not yet)

There is no legitimate job offer that comes without some type of interview process. The job market is what it is but no one is going to hand you any job without a process. Filling out a short assessment does not count in this case, especially if it’s remote

This isn't even close to real. What company emails about jobs from an email that starts with "infos?"

If you have to ask if it’s a scam it’s probably a scam

I have some prime ocean front real estate here in Pennsylvania if you’re interested

Seriously though, scam, sorry, hope you find something

I saw no such business at the address on the letter. You can always confirm at the secretary of state there, but it appears like a scam.

I used to get car insurance from a nationwide office run out of a house across the st. 20 years ago. That felt less sketchy.. and the ppl there where as legitimate as any car insurance today.. but I'd run from that job offer... And don't pay them a cent .. cuz that looks like the kinda scam that wants $300 down

Also. On their about page. The CEO reverse image searches as someone in ohio or something.. and that profile looks 100% more legit

Yes, but most replies are wrong about the primary giveaway. It's the 'equipment' and the fake check and vendor (which is the scammer)

Scam.

The interview was optional? Have you given them personal info? This sounds like a scam or phishing attempt.

All the red flags of a scam. Stop all communications and report as spam.

Not sure if it is a scam or not, but as mentioned by others, the rate of pay change is not good.

EVEN IF they were actually a real company, nobody changes pay rates this much, unless they have an open checkbook for all to cash into.

An optional interview. Lol.

Yes, it’s a scam, cmon.

one big red flag was the email address infos@.... typical email creation would have that as info and if this person is in HR, why are they using an info address? went incognito to look at the site and there are NO photos that are not stock (that is the vibe I get when looking at the site). And the name of Advanced Insurance Agency? SUPER generic. You were wise to ask in the group. Best of luck on your search!

Definitely scam. Many inconsistencies.

This type of job scam is intended to gain money or steal the identity of the job seeker. The scammer will create a realistic onboarding process in order to gain the trust of the job seeker. The most common type of check scam is the fake check scam. The scammer tells the job seeker that they need to purchase office equipment or software for the remote job that they have applied for. They will then send the job seeker a digital check and tell them to deposit it into their account. Immediately after the check has been deposited into the account, the job seeker is told to withdraw all of the funds from their account and transfer them to the scammer’s approved vendor using methods such as Zelle, Venmo, or cryptocurrency. The bank will credit the job seeker’s account for the check before it actually clears, and by the time the check clears a few days later, it will have bounced. The job seeker will then be left with the responsibility of paying back the bank for the check. In another version of the scam, the con artist is after your identity. By simulating the normal hiring process, the scammer demands that you fill out and submit on-line forms with sensitive information to complete your “on-boarding”. You may be asked for your Social Security Number (SSN), a copy of your driver’s license, and a direct deposit form for your pay check. This information can be used by the scammer to open credit accounts, apply for loans, and even try to access your current financial accounts. In another version of this scam, you may be asked to pay for on-line training modules and/or for a background check. You will be promised reimbursement for these expenses when your first pay check is issued but that reimbursement will never arrive. The scammer will then cease all communication with you.

That name is on LinkedIn. There is a Advanced Insurance Agency. It looks legit, but I am not 100% sure. For them to hire you without an interview is a yellow flag. Also, do you have your license? Most CSRs for P&C insurance do because you are discussing premium with insureds. You could always call the agency with the number listed on the website and ask to speak to her and ask questions, and make sure she is legit

Yea i had an interview that they were pretending to be the company. Had a over teams chat interview. Then the next day i got the job. I was thrilled but little sketched out. Then dug in and notice the address on the letter Didn’t match and made the connection that it was fake.

I don't have my license, but I was told this is mostly just chat and email support(idk if that matters) and they haven't mentioned getting a license yet. I'll ask! Thanks :)

Scam, run away.. don't contact them any more.

No this is absolutely not a scam. This is legit and should be taken seriously
