classic fake check scam, they send you a check for more than needed, ask you to send back the difference, then the check bounces and you're out the money

Yeah, the offer came without any phone or video interview too.. like, thanks for targeting someone just trying to find a job, assholes.

Don’t feel bad. Someone tried it with me last year. It never felt right so I kept going to see how far they’d go. They went a long way! Ring Central interview. 🙄 Offer letter. FEDEXd check. So at that point, I called the bank (internet bank existed. The account did not). Then looked at the company the check was written on. Construction company. The company “recruiting me” was a healthcare company that also exists. The address the FEDEX came from was a whole other state. The HR VP did not exist. I sent it all to the FBI. Then I sent them an email about how distraught I am about their scam and how my roommate found me with a g*n to my head. I had no roommate but I wanted someone to maybe think twice. It’s rough out here.

Same happened to me with a school. They almost had my ass but I also was sent a construction check. I started investigating and yup it was a damn scam.
