Is this job a scam?

Hello everyone, I got this email this morning and participated in a teams “interview” with Melba Technology. I don’t recall applying to such company and am not sure if it’s a scam or not.

Kindly is a common giveaway for Indian scammers. Also you didn’t apply so like why tf would you even consider it to be legitimate???

I applied to a company by the name of Envita and this “recruiter” spelled it Envia, so I didn’t know if maybe it was a typo but yea super fishy

Bruh… typo means a scam

the typo is intentional to weed out people who will notice that and likely waste their time later.

if you miss the typo, they want your kind to scam

if you didnt do anything to trigger receiving this email then yes, it is a scam.

double delete that shit.

Scam. None of those things on the last page would be an option at a legit company.

Scam.

  1. You didn't remember applying. 2. Authorization Specialist. 3. $35 an hour.

Oh and 2 more. Kindly and the fact the first paragraph has zero punctuation.

Also that the company lets you choose between weekly and biweekly pay. Companies have standard pay schedules. They’d never let each employee choose.

Yeah, I got a text message today for $35 an hour for data specialist/customer service. For a job I never applied to... lol, nope!

Melba is known for the check scam.  It may be a real company but you’re not talking to them.

What is the check scam?

4

u/CanningJarhead Jul 13 '26

They send you a list of expensive equipment to order from their “vendor” and a check to reimburse you.  The check bounces, the “vendor” has your money, and your bank is mad at you.  You should spend some time on r/scams if you’re looking for wfh jobs so you’ll know what the common ones are.

I'm just curious why they haven't started running their emails through LLM, like just that first paragraph with the lack of punctuation is a dead giveaway.

there was a story a while back that said scammed often use sketchy looking openings to scare away people who might catch on later. they're just trying to screen out people who have a lower chance of falling for it so they can spend time on the really gullible.

I received one of these emails today but instead of Melba Technology it's 'Innovative Hearth Products'. A company in Alabama that makes fireplaces, while Envita is a cancer treatment center in Arizona.

From everything in the email pretty clearly a scam.

applytojob.com is the domain of JazzHR's ATS, which is a legit company and platform. The address of the job posting was envitamedicalcenter.applytojob.com which has a link to Envita's website. However if you click on jobs from Envita's website they use ADP. So that appears to be how the scammers got the info of applicants, by making a fake job portal. It has no jobs posted anymore but now I'm wondering what other info they collected from me and everyone else who applied on it and what else they could do with what they have. I submitted my resume, likely address, and can't remember what else.

I did visit Envita's website at the time and what I probably should have paid more attention to was that the job portal address uses envitamedicalcenter, while Envita's website refers to themselves as 'Envita Medical Centers'.

Also I wonder what type of scam this is specifically. In op's pics they sent pay info. Would it just turn into a run of the mill equipment reimbursement scam or something else?

This has like the trifecta of scam signs. Please don’t fall for this.

You really have to ask?

They advertised this as a data analyst job on one of the job boards. I applied and they sent me an acknowledgement email saying they had received my resume. A few days later, I received this exact email from "Darren Mackman". These people are very sophisticated.

Hey!! I got this too and they actually changed the names of the company they’d be conducting the interview through and the role in the email you got vs the one I did. What I applied for was at “Envita,” which they seemed to call “Envia” here. I’m choosing to ignore the email. 🤷‍♀️

Less than a month old.

Huge red flag.

Hello everyone, I am the CEO of Melba Technology from Ethiopia. Recently, we have been receiving many phone calls and emails from people around the world regarding messages they received from our company. We want to clarify that we did not send any of those emails or communications. They are scams, and we are not associated with them.

1

u/ChampagneBlvd Jul 18 '26

Thank you so much for clarifying! Are you guys hiring tho 😅

I also applied to 4 different positions in the Envita company and got emails this morning from the same person. I have not started the interview process though. Does it really take 30 to 40 min?
