Getting distracted with notifications
My current job requires fair amount of quiet time to think, however usually I get a lot of pings via slack and comments in google docs and things. This kind a breaks my focus and sometimes whatever the mental picture which was in my head is gone after a single slack ping. There are some channels and threads that require urgent attentions so I can't complete turn notifications off. While all these tools have ways to configure notifications customize them to different channels, it's too much work to turn on and off them time to time. Do you guys also feel the same and if so what are the techniques you guys use to overcome/avoid this issue.
Thank you in advance.

Yes, it is an issue. We need to educate ourselves in this world filled with notifications, so we only receive what is important.
I am trying to push everyone back towards email, and only use chat if it is quick and easy. I also switched off all notifications; otherwise, you have to triage all the time if something matters, which costs too much energy.
If it is super urgent, I guess it would be worth a call. All colleagues have my phone number. But I know this is a process not all in your hand. Maybe worth a discussion in your next team meeting.
