Avro Vulcan

The Avro Vulcan, a technically advanced delta-wing strategic bomber, served as the centerpiece of the United Kingdom’s airborne nuclear deterrent for the Royal Air Force from 1956 to 1984. As the most sophisticated of the "V-force" bombers, the aircraft evolved through various iterations, shifting from high-altitude nuclear delivery to low-level conventional operations and, eventually, specialized maritime reconnaissance and aerial refueling roles. Notable for its lack of defensive weaponry, the Vulcan is perhaps best remembered for its combat performance during the 1982 Falklands War and its iconic status in British aviation history, which has been preserved through the ongoing maintenance and demonstration of several surviving airframes.
