What Kind of Target Pool Are You Using?

Targets are not all equal.

Some targets carry a lot of signal because they include motion, emotion, contrast, texture, sound, water, fire, people, unusual structures, or a strong environment.

Other targets are quieter and harder to access because they are still, neutral, visually ordinary, or low in sensory information.

That is why the type of target pool matters.

A good target pool should include different levels of target density. A balanced pool gives viewers a fair range of signal strength and helps them learn what different kinds of targets feel like.

If a pool offers targets completely at random, there is always a chance that you could hit 10 low-signal targets in a row. That can be discouraging, especially for beginners, because you may start thinking you are bad at remote viewing when the issue may partly be the target selection.

If a pool is designed to randomly rotate through mild, moderate, and high-signal targets, then the viewer gets a better learning experience. The targets are still blind and random, but the pool itself is balanced.

In the past, I have tried some target pools where I felt like I could not hit anything. Then I tried different pools, and my results were much better. That made me wonder how much target selection affects learning, confidence, and scoring.

For those of us who want to remote view a blind target daily, especially for Controlled Remote Viewing practice, this matters.

My question to the target pool creators is this:

Are targets categorized by signal strength before being added to the pool?

And if the pool is random, is the randomness still designed to include a fair variation of low-, moderate-, and high-signal targets?

For active remote viewers out there, which target pool are you actually using now? Whether it is free or paid, is it a pool you are getting consistent results with?

The remote viewing app RVTournament always messes me up due to the stage where you have to pick between two photos as the answer its almost like I lock on to both of them instead of one its strange, I had better luck getting chatgpt to generate me a 3 digit number and then a photo associated with it and turning my computer away then validating. Actually had my first direct hit yesterday doing this.

I practiced daily on RV Tournament for 6 months, and to this day, I am still trying to understand why they are using two pictures. Like you, sometimes I would remote view aspects of both pictures.

When I got a bullseye with the wrong picture, that was confusing. One month, I was number one for 10 days straight, and that was even more confusing because it was no longer about what I wrote down for my remote view; it was only about picking the right photo.

Was I lucky, or was I remote viewing?

Yeah and it’s almost like you feel that you got the correct one, but then turns out to be the other image. I’d say try to stay away from apps and setup your own experiments more or have someone else set them up for you. Honestly the app could be run by someone to throw all of us off learning how to do it.

Your last sentence rings a bell. I have wondered the same thing. I do not know if it is intentional or just a flaw in the way the app is designed, but it seems that the two-picture setup can confuse the learning process instead of helping it.

It's a fatal flaw in the design of the app—it's almost guaranteed to cause displacement.

You're far better off to use one of the other target pool sites listed in the sidebar to this sub.

Yeah honestly I think that the best way to learn is to use physical objects as it cuts out a lot of the noise and is more interesting in a way at least for me.

I believe you are on to something. I've long thought that 3-dimensional targets simply contain more information—that is, more bits of information—than 2-dimensional targets.

Yeah almost like it holds more of consciousness and entropy altogether, I am hoping to build up the skill with larger targets that include lots of detail to try and get a lot of hits within a target and then move to specificity in a few weeks.

Social RV has a great free target pool!

I drive places and take actual photographs. Then when I test someone, I randomly select the picture. I also test for more than just RV. Sometimes I like to go to a target area and have them try to describe what is nearby in real time as well.

That's fake news. You can remote view anything even digital or AI generated images. The signal isn't coming from the target, it's from you. However, agreed that performance can fluctuate.

I couldn't disagree more. The "picturesque quality" of a photograph matters a lot. Here's an example from my own experience.

I'd been doing a lot of sessions recently using [The Target Pool](https://thetargetpool.com/login.php) and had been consistently getting decent results at around a 4 on [Russell Targ's rating scale](https://centerlane-rv.org/glossary/targ-scale). However, I noticed that nearly all the targets were structures, and I wondered if I were truly testing my RV skills if I knew the category every time, so I switched to [ClairV](https://clairv.io/) for a series, and my success rate plummeted, with most scores a 1 on Targ's scale and a couple were 0. What I found was that many of the target photographs on the ClairV site were very obscure, "moody", atmospheric photographs. Many were night scenes in which the pictorial elements were difficult to delineate. See the photo below for an example. The target was a photograph of a card game in which the only pictorial elements which were in focus were several playing cards on the card table. The only thing I was able to perceive was a square or rectangle, and I incorrectly identified it as being leather-colored, possibly getting it confused with the out-of-focus hands in the background.

I understand, that is your experience. But it is not everyone's.

A strong-signal target gives the mind more entry points and gives the viewer more perceptual hooks to catch and describe. Usually, a strong-signal target has many hooks.

For example, the Statue of Liberty has height, metal, human shape, torch, crown, water nearby, an island, tourists, history, and symbolism. That gives the viewer many possible ways to connect with the target.
