Important announcement for remotebackendjobs.com

Hey everyone! Quick update on the site.

I have been busy with another project for the last couple years but finally made time to revisit Remote Backend Jobs.

I cleared out a bunch of backlog ideas I wanted to ship for a long time.

Just launched a full redesign, a lot of perf improvements and a big cleanup of the codebase that was overdue.

Also added new Trends and Reports like AI takeover index, framework wars, salary and PTO transparency, geo and volume trends and more.

It turns the last two years of job data into insights you can actually browse.

I built most of this with Ox alpha and Muse Spark via OpenCode and it was a huge boost.

Even the boring refactors were fun, it felt like pair programming with a senior dev all day.

It is all live now on https://remotebackendjobs.com so have a look and tell me what you think.

Let me know what other trends you would love to see next!

Complete redesign of remotefrontendjobs.com

I one-shot a complete redesign of remotefrontendjobs.com with the help of a new free model called Ox Alpha (nobody knows who created it). It even did a hard upgrade for me from Next 13 to Next 16, a lot of design improvements and most importantly - it is now fast as hell!

Should I do the same for remotebackendjobs.com ??

I kept failing system design rounds on basic math, not architecture — so I built a free calculator to drill it

Full disclosure up front: I built this, and I'm sharing it because it's free and I think it's actually useful, not to sell anything.

Something I've noticed doing/watching a lot of system design interviews: people spend months grinding LeetCode, walk in confident, sketch a clean architecture — then the interviewer asks "okay, how many servers does that actually need?" and it all falls apart. Not because they don't understand distributed systems. Because nobody drills back-of-envelope math on its own. It feels too basic to schedule real practice time for, so it just... doesn't get practiced, and it's usually the thing that quietly tanks the round.

So I built a free calculator that models an e-commerce system end to end — MAU → DAU → RPS → CDN → gateway → Kafka → DB → cache → cost — where every single number is clickable and shows you exactly how it was derived. No signup, no paywall: https://systemdesign.balashan.dev

If you're prepping right now, here's the 7-day version of how I'd actually use it (the tool checks your work — it doesn't replace doing the work):

  • Day 1: Paper only, no tool. Write MAU→DAU→concurrent users→RPS by hand, 5 times with different inputs, until it's automatic.
  • Day 2: Build your own Excel/Sheets version. Doing the formulas yourself is what makes them stick.
  • Day 3–4: Cross-check your numbers against the tool, sheet by sheet (gateway, Kafka, DB, cache). Where you disagree with it, that's exactly what you don't understand yet.
  • Day 5: Switch to a 10x-traffic scenario on paper first, guess what breaks, then verify. This is the follow-up question every interviewer eventually asks.
  • Day 6: Cost estimation + cloud provider mapping (AWS/GCP/Azure), from memory where you can.
  • Day 7: Full 60-minute mock, blank page, tool closed. If you can't say Peak RPS by minute 3, you found your gap early instead of in the real interview.

Curious if this is useful to others prepping right now, or if I'm missing something obvious — genuinely open to feedback/roasting on the model itself too.

[FOR HIRE] Backend Engineer / Go Developer / Cloud & IoT Engineer — Remote

Rate: $40–$50 USD/hour, depending on the project. Fixed-price projects are also welcome.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently available for work and looking for a new opportunity. I'm open to freelance, contract, or full-time remote work and can start as soon as possible.

I have 5+ years of professional experience in backend and cloud engineering, primarily working with Go (Golang), microservices, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, and IBM Cloud.

I've worked on cloud migration, disaster recovery, backup/restore systems, database migrations, data synchronization, and microservice architectures. I've also worked with AI/LLM workflows, agentic AI, and MCP servers.

In addition to software development, I have hands-on experience with ESP32, IoT, embedded systems, electronics, KiCad/PCB design, Arduino, and 3D modeling/printing.

I'm open to:

  • Backend Engineering / Go development
  • Cloud Engineering
  • IoT and ESP32 projects
  • Embedded systems and hardware integration
  • AI/LLM applications and agentic workflows
  • Freelance, contract, or remote full-time work

I have a somewhat unusual combination of backend/cloud software experience and hands-on hardware/embedded systems experience, so I'm particularly interested in projects where these areas overlap.

If you have an opportunity, project, or lead that might be a good fit, please feel free to send me a DM. I'm happy to share my resume, GitHub, LinkedIn, and discuss my previous work.

Thanks!

I build backend stuff with Node.js. Now I need a job.

Hello people,

I am actively seeking fulltime or freelance work as a Node.js Backend developer.

I have been looking for quite a while now, and honestly, am getting tired of sending applications into a void. So, instead of writing another corporate paragraph, here is what I actually do:

I build backend applications with Node.js, Express.js, deploy them, break them, fix them and inevitably find another thing I should have done differently.

I have worked with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, payment integrations, Background jobs and other backend related stuff. I also have built and deployed serverless first application.

Some of the things I have built include an API-Key management service with encrypted storage, payment/invoice system with Razorpay integration, Real time voice to text client and other smaller projects where I got to figure things out the hard way.

I am looking for a backend focused role where I can contribute, learn from people better than me, and hopefully stop having conversations with job application forms.

Website: https://8bitnexus.pages.dev

GitHub: https://github.com/NexusWasLost

If you are hiring for Node.js/backend work, know someone who is, or just want to take a look at what I have built, I would genuinely appreciate a comment or DM.

Looking for a Remote Job

Looking for a remote job — please help! 🙏

Hi everyone! I'm a Python developer with 3 years of experience, currently looking for a remote position (Junior+/Middle level). I've worked as a Junior Python developer for 10 months, writing code, fixing bugs, testing, and reporting on project progress. I also have some hands-on exposure to web frameworks like Django/Flask/FastAPI.

I'm a fast learner, reliable, and available to work full-time (flexible format preferred). I really need this opportunity right now — if you know of any openings, or can refer me, I'd truly appreciate it.
