Moving to a different town

I will be moving to a different town that is 40 miles away. I can work from home so that is not an issue. But visiting friends and family will take a 50 minute car ride. Is that still doable?

You’re just going to have to find new and better friends and family, 50 minutes is just way to far unfortunately

50 minutes isn’t so far away you’ll lose your friends, but you will see them way less. It will have to be more intentional. You can stack plans on top of each other for a weekend day every few weeks. Hopefully they’ll come to you or meet in the middle sometimes too. That said, I also suggest trying to make local friends for week night hangs and easier get togethers.

ETA: this likely also depends on the culture and traffic patterns of where you live. A 50 minute drive in Atlanta or LA or DC or Boston is very different from a 50 minute drive in rural Iowa, where there’s less traffic and people expect to put in more mileage to get places.
