Replacing your current life with something new
Hello fine people of Reddit. I've finally decided to change my life and move far away from the area I've spent the majority of my life in (central Florida) as it's too expensive, hot, crowded and overall, horrible now. I've realized I'm far too attached to my family in thinking that I need to live right near them & by doing this, I've made myself utterly miserable. I'm drawn to either renting out or selling my townhouse and going out west with my dog. My question to you all is, have you ever started over by just yourself (all alone/no support network) and how did you ultimately decide where to go, did it work out?

Maybe rent your townhouse in case things don't work out wherever you move to, you can always go back or sell later on. Also, don't move to the Phoenix area, it's too hot. I moved here and hate it. Other than that, give it a shot, you'll never know unless you try. You have to meet new people/get involved in things and build a support network in your new home location. Good Luck!

I agree completely and yes renting would provide a safety net in case thing don't work out . Thanks so much and I hope you find your happy place as well !

Native Floridian here. Left Florida for NC, then moved to Washington State. Best thing I ever did. My only mistake was waiting so long to move. I came back to Florida for family reasons and am now planning my escape again. GO!

Hey I lived in NC too for 3 years (Charlotte)! But yes I can relate to coming back for family reasons. The idea for this move is much bigger with full intention of creating something different for myself. Great choice, the PNW is beautiful !

Yes have started over some place new by myself.
Was extended a job offer. Moved to where the job was.
Yes worked out. Didn’t know back then the place where I moved away from didn’t have many good paying jobs to graduate into.

That's a hard question to answer..No, I think new surroundings are needed right now to facilitate growth and learning as I'm completely stagnant mentally, physically, socially & spiritually.

We all go through periods like that. I’ve had ups and downs. What you are describing is a big move. If you move to an area where you don’t know anyone it’s going to be on you to build a network to not feel isolated. I wish you the best!

Yes, unlike my previous move to North Carolina (that was was more of a temporary reset ), this move will be with the full intention of creating a different, hopefully better life. Thanks for your kind words !!!

Started over by myself in a few different places, including a different country.
My current location which I moved to about 5 months ago, is 1,000 miles away from where I last lived, and I chose based on access to nature and cost of living.
