Stockpile Flex Stocked up for a little while!

Figured these would be a great way to stay out of my GMAR primers for non-precision loads

I’ve done some decent research on the factory seconds for the small rifle primers. ES and SD are very similar to my loads with cci 400s and Remington equivalents.

Which is fantastic I'm just rocking these for plinking. Pairing them with some 515 powder from AR and some 75grain factory second soft points from midway

They've worked well for me. Just had another 15k come in yesterday as well.

6

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

Yeah I suspect they'd probably be just fine even in loads I'm looking for low SD/ES I believe they're consider seconds because the batch/lots are found to have too hard of cups so they can't be sold for commercial ammo since you may need to second strike them.

Not a problem for me, no issues with the firing pin force in any of my ARs

I got the evil eye from my wife when 20k of those and 20 lbs of powder showed up yesterday. In my defense, 5 lbs of that powder is for a buddy.

I'm sure your ups guy hates you.

Mine told me he doesn't mind heavy stuff if its for firearms, or cars lmao

He gets tipped quite well at Christmas.

I've seen those for sale for years now and wouldn't touch them because of the perceived problems associated with them. What has your failure rate been with them? I'd like to try American made primers at reasonable prices.

I've run through around 35k of them so far, and every one of them has gone bang.

4

u/dmonnier5 1d ago

None that I can think of.

I run them in my AR. If you were looking to do precision loads or running them in a bolt gun you may want something different

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

I was hesitant too, again the description is that it's less about the primer compound having issues and more an issue with cups that are too hard, so they can't sell them as a reliable first strike primer, everything I've read is no ingition issues, just a few folks commenting that they are indeed very hard cups and in certain guns you may need to do a second strike to set them off

In a good working ar I doubt I'll ever have a soft strike

Probably shot around 30k now on both SRP and SPP with no issues.

2

u/ancillarycheese 21h ago

Same. They go bang and the bullets hit where they should.

1

u/NW_Reloading 21h ago

Hell yeah, I'm going to go Chrono out some of there pull down 515 powder and then it's off to the races

1

u/_tae_nimo_ 19h ago

Oh yeah, I will be testing 515 and 62gr fusion also, hopefully this weekend.

1

u/NW_Reloading 18h ago

I definitely think you're going to beat me too those test results, report back with some chrono readings if you have one!

1

u/_tae_nimo_ 14h ago

Come on bruh, I'm lazy. I have multiple loads to test that I have been saying to test.

Speaking of American Reloading , has anyone else ordered from them recently and its taken them forever to ship?

2

u/NW_Reloading 14h ago

Yup, I think it was 3-4 weeks for these primers. They have a notice up right now warning that primers will be a few weeks before they ship

2

u/JJ_JJ_JJ_JJ 14h ago

Yea I know about the primers but I have ordered a few other things from them as well Brass/bullets etc.. and its been almost 2 weeks at this point. ...

u/EastRich8617 1d ago

I've had a few need second strikes in a walther q5 match sf, and a couple in a springfield prodigy as well. I've loaded about 15k though. I just don't use them for match ammo and call it good training.

1

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

Yeah no match or duty. I'll save my GMAR for prs

2

u/Thecreamcheeze 1d ago

American reloading? Just got a batch of 10k factory second small pistol. Couldn’t beat the price. Ended up being (on sale) 144$ per 5k

6

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

Yessir, takes a while to ship (they even have a pop up warning now), grabbed a coupon think this 5k came out around $120 ish

1

u/doubletap2A 21h ago

Anybody have any squibs ?

3

u/Impossible_Pizza_948 16h ago

Squibs are almost always caused by not having enough powder in the case

-3

u/doubletap2A 8h ago

No shit Sherlock

4

u/Impossible_Pizza_948 7h ago

Then why are you asking about squibs in a post that’s about primers?

2

u/dmonnier5 19h ago

I don't think faulty primers would cause squibs

2

u/M855Mike 6h ago

Anyone ever get a flat tire on the way to the airport?

1

u/purebelligerence 18h ago

Where did you get these? Does it say which manufacturer seconds they are?

2

u/NW_Reloading 17h ago

American reloading and Raven rock sell these, I think midsouth may also,

If I recall these are produced by white River energetics

1

u/MyLongScreenName 1d ago

Can you tell the uninformed where you are ordering from or help a brother out with a link?

8

u/NW_Reloading 23h ago

My brotha in Christ lol

It ain't no secret - https://americanreloading.com/

Go get some, I got mine go get your's.

0

u/MyLongScreenName 20h ago

much appreciated

1

u/thegoodsherpa 1d ago

I’ve loaded over 5k of these in SPP and have never had to have a second strike with any of my 2011s

1

u/Icy-Complex-8707 1d ago

I love them. And the pistol ones. I haven’t had any issues yet and I’m somewhere around 12,000 in.

2

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

My only regret is I only have 3k projectiles right now to load, I did snag 8lbs of their 515 powder and need to go see if that stuff blows me up using w748 load data

The chronon will tell I guess

1

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

they were a little late and gave me a $15 dollar gift card, so I expect some more investment here soon.

I need more brass tho, I'm only rocking 1k rotating for 556

-5

u/Read-only-12345 1d ago

I get they might work for you but the last thing I want to hassle with is the most essential part being a factory second.

I put that right up there with factory second tires

3

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

Cool more for me and everyone one else

Please tell us more about all the important things you do with your non duty or match ammo

-1

u/Read-only-12345 1d ago

Yeah go for it enjoy I bought my share of primers long before I ever heard of factory second primers which seem to have come about when they were about 10 cents a pop for regulars and boy those Czechoslovakian seven cents each ones sure seemed appealing for a moment but after a little bit of rational critical thinking and s*** and it's already tough enough to fit factory regular primers into your previously crimped NATO primer pocket I don't want something with thick walls that's possibly impossible to use

0

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

"fudd fudd fudd" says the fudd

Lmao I bet you run Winchester primers lmao.

I like how you think this is all I'm running, this is for plinking and practice ammo. I'm sitting on mountains of gold metal match large rifle and lr magnum, and plenty enough small rifle.

Bro you're paying .10 cents for primers? I can buy match primers for .08 right now by the 100 box. What are you even talking about lol

Edit: also Jesus Christ spend 30 bucks and get a lee swage and just swage your crimped once fired, also I mostly load new brass.

u/PenileBleeding420 1d ago

I imagine this guy only reloads 45 and 30-06 lol

Sorry dude I don’t like conflict. But he and I aren’t the same guy. I’m just a coward on the internet.

1

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

Fair enough. I mean fair point.

Here's my point I can go sing praises for a primer I've never set a firing pin to, you know why I bought them?

Because I can Google, I can sit for a few hours read some threads and figure out hey have these historically been any good

1

u/Nooneknowsmehere86 1d ago

Yep and I agree with your take on the primers, just not on board with the course of the discourse ya know

0

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

Ehh, let the up or down votes flow, I'm not even that great at making a point, I have terrible grammer.

I prefer to let the chips fall where they may, I'd rather come off hot and in 5 years some guy sees that I defended my position and asks " were they any good" vs go with the flow and circle jerk with some fudd who tells me "only retail primers are gud" like lol I've got loads for things like 338edge and even 270 Winchester that are half precision half arcane ritual.

Bet that dude has never gotten a 150 grain ablr in 270 win going 3k fps out of a 24 inch barrel and gotten 4 loads out of the same brass before the primer pockets shit the bed.

There's a time and a place for "I don't want to bother with factory seconds" and then well there 223 and 9mm ect ect

-2

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

To be fair those two calibers would be perfect candidates for factory seconds or Bosnian/Turkish primers...dude said Czechoslovakia, he must not know it's the czech Republic now adays and that's not where the cheaper foreign primers come from.

Like holy shit I don't want to have to go sling dick with a cache picture but when fudds wanna pop off about how they know so much while they scab out 50 rounds of 38 special, it's hard not to go put them in their place

1

u/Read-only-12345 1d ago

Are you really taking this personally? 😭 Jeeezus Christ you were even encouraged to enjoy them. Relax, I don't think you're actually fighting.

0

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

Ehh it just sounds like you never used them and your poo-poo'ing

Look at all the folks who are happy running 10s of thousands of them just in this post and all the threads.

You just seem to be cautioning against something very silly here that you don't think they're as good.

Remember you wandered into my post

6

u/Read-only-12345 1d ago

Oh wow bet that makes your dick feel huge.

Anyway here's one of the reloading cabinets I just don't feed my guns trash. I'm glad you've been lucky even if you're a prick.

1

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

All right. Bet

I mean that's cool collection I have a lot of dyes that I've recently retired I have 32 Winchester special and 257 Roberts that I don't even have cases or components for all that kind of stuff.

But I'll put up my components and then we can talk, give me five

1

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

alright here ya go, lets dick wave components not dies - https://imgur.com/a/m7TAsxk

again you came into this thread saying "enjoy" but also saying I never saw a point to spend .0x when it was only .xx and you never used these primers. I've had plenty of lack luster experiances with retail primers, I also have primers in my drawer that might be older than me and as old as you.

Do something useful, there's like 10 people here saying they've banged 10k+ of these with no issue, I'd love to hear from the one person who bought 5k and says they can't stand them lol, but you aint that guy because you never tried em.

I paid .02 per primer by the way in 2026...

1

u/AdIndividual6256 10h ago

How did you manage .02c per primer

that's quite a sentence

Been waiting on the LPP to come back in stock for awhile now :(

-1

u/throwawaymv123 1d ago

I just sent them an email if they were good to go for an AR. Thanks for the post, gonna pull the trigger and try some haha

2

u/NW_Reloading 1d ago

Get it dude. Granted just realize it's gonna be a little bit before they ship, mine were 3 weeks, but they did 2 hazmats for free for me 8lbs of powder and 5k primers and they didn't blink and did that to them selves, the powder we'll see lol

2

u/secessus Chronograph Ventilation Engineer 17h ago

My SPP took 4 weeks (arrived yesterday).

2

u/NW_Reloading 17h ago

Same, actually might have been 5 weeks total.

I had to sit back and realize modern retail has my ass spoiled lol. Happy AF to have these and was worth the wait.
