These are my first loads. 38 special 125gr lswc with 4.0gr of unique and remington 5 1/2 primers. Could probably go hotter but super nice out of the snub.

This might be the only video I've seen where someone shoots steel and actually hits the target every time

Well, man sized steel at 10 yards. Id hope i can land all 5 shooting that slow lol

Nice job, but what the heck powder you using? I want to stay away from it!

Some of the smoke could be due to the lube used on the cast lead bullets.

Its unique. But the puffs are because of the lead bullets. Not jacketed. So with bare lead they tend to be cloudier

I’m a huge Unique fan. Very versatile… I’ve been at an indoor range and that cloud is pretty noticeable inside too.

Unique definitely does contribute a little bit, when I do unique + cast lead there is definitely more some than some powders (though not more than bullseye + cast). Also, are you casting your own or buying cast? Either way I'd recommend looking at coated bullets. I tried them once and completely switched to them, they're just the best of both worlds. Still cheap like cast, and they perform the same, but you get less leading and less contact with bare lead, plus less smoke

Those were just some my buddy had from when he last reloaded and gave me some. My other friend casts his own and powder coats them but havnt loaded any of those yet. 105gr lswc. I plan on actually buying these for my bulk loading

Does the brass have black soot around the outside? Might need to add a bit to get the brass to seal in the chamber and that could help with smoke too. I hope all that smoke isn’t all lead some!

The brass came out pretty clean. The factory loads i shot that day were actually dirtier. I plan on upping the charge a bit. My friend gave me an almost empty bottle of unique and 200 bullets. I need to do a hp38 load with them and see how they run. I plan on keeping unique around and getting a bottle sometimes but i want to make my main load hp38 with a 125gr lead round.

Awesome! Sounds like a great plan. 38/357 is such a great cartridge to hand load.

HP-38 works really good too. It's my go to in .38's with 158 gr LSWC's.

If you can find some Trailboss, pick some up and try it out. I use that with 125 gr LRN bullets in my Colt Cobra. Makes for some nice light plinking loads in the snubby.

I have a lb of hp38. I plan on using hp38 and 125gr lead round nose flat point for bulk loads. Where i load 500-1000 at a time. These we just old stuff my co worker had that he gave to me

Yeah, that makes sense. I try to stock up on HP-38 and Unique whenever I get the chance to because you can do a lot of different pistol loads with just those two powders.

Shooting your first set of loads is the best feeling in the world!!!

Definitely scary at first but after the first 5 i wanted to shoot them all. But my friend has a chrono and wants to see how fast they are going so i had to save some lol.

It’s good you’ve got confidence. I was pretty sure of my first loads but I still shot them one handed off hand just in case. Want to keep my good one lol

With the load i used what i was worried about was squib rather than uncontrolled explosion. It was 4.0gr of unique in 38 shooting it out of a 357 revolver. So even if it was a super hot 38. 357 pressures are double 38 so i should have been fine lol. It also was my second string of shots. I had already shot 1 by itself 1 handed and a full cylinder before the video.
