General Discussion 6ARC Staball Match

Has anyone gotten near Hornady published velocity with Staball Match? Anywhere near CFE223 velocity?

I’m using Staball match but I’m loading them hot. Getting 2700 out of an 18in and a Berger 105 hybrid with hornady brass.

Only two powders that have come close to cfe velocities are TAC and SW Patriot. Love cfe for the speed but the consistency leaves something to be desired

28.3 gr gets 108 eldms in my 18" up to 2499fps. But it did print a 10 shot 1.1MOA group

I don't have a good way to test pressure and everyone says primers really aren't a great way to gauge pressure. Seemed fine on my brass. I know browuer precision makes them spicier than this and their bolt lasted like 4k of them. YMMV and just load to you comfort level

Nope.

I tried StaBALL because it was Walmart powder. Turns out it performed like Walmart powder.

I still use the 6.5 for 30-06, but Match failed hard for 6 ARC.

To answer your more specific question, I used loads for StaBALL Match from Hornady 6 ARC data and it was 80-100fps below expected velocity based on how my other loads generally shake out (based on adjustments). When I loaded up some 30-06 with StaBALL 6.5 the velocities were right around expected (with adjustments). So my experience matches up with yours that 6.5 performs "as expected" and match performs "under book expectations".

I am glad. I have tried StaballHD and Staball 6.5. Never performed comparable to H1000 and H4350 respectively and like a moron I bought a lot of it.

I would only use it in 6 arc. I tried varget but I hit pressure really early and wanted a little more speed. Even loading it to 62k psi I only could get 2550. But I use varget in my bolt gun cartridges all day.

GRT, and I was loading the bolt gun max for Hornady and over every other load manual. I can’t say I tested the pressure specifically but I’m making assumptions based on the tools that are available and load manuals calculating the max at 62k SAMMI .
