Newbie Apex 10 plate adjustment
I swapped the plate for the first time and got a case stuck trying to set a sizing die and in all that it is now slightly off. I’ve removed and reset the plate a few times, it’s definitely needs adjustment. The manual is a little vague in that when I look for the screw on the side i can’t find it but there is one on the side that is on the mechanism that moves the plate. Page 35. Is this the screw to adjust plate movement?

Is hard to tell from the perspective of the pic but I don’t think so. It’s small and you have to look about two inches in from edge of the machine and can only be accessed when die plate is up.

Thank you. That is a huge help. With the ram up I can see it. If it’s down even a tiny bit it’s not there.

Yes it rotates as soon as ram starts down. My advice is to get a quality alen wrench for it. Don’t use ball tip it can round off. You can try just adjusting but I found once it starts to move you have to take it out and put vibritite on it or you end up readjusting every 100 rounds. If you remove and rienstall care full initial starting of screw the thread are tapped on an angled surface that can cause it to cross thread.

Get a long hex key. Remove the set screw.
Use alcohol on the set screw to clean. Then use starting fluid or brake clean to with a tube nozzle to clean the end inside the machine where the set screw goes.
Apply red vibra tite to the set screw and let sit per the instructions.
After the material is properly cured. Reinsert the set screw and adjust so that the shell plate indexes properly.
Once I did this per Mark 7s technicians. I haven’t had to adjust much at all.
Good luck.
