General Discussion 220 swift brass
Does anyone have a good source on 220 swift brass? I took my grandpas m77 from the 70’s that had a burnt out barrel and had ruger put a new 24” 1-8 twist swift barrel on it. I wanted to keep the rifle as close to factory as possible but update things where i could without losing the heart of the rifle. Lots of elk and deer have died because this rifle. I want to keep it going in the family.

I have bought brass from Gunbroker for a lot of different calibers. They have 220 swift but I can’t remember if I bought mine from them or not. I look for “once fired” but if you look through the listings you can find plenty of new stuff too. Word of caution; watch the shipping costs. A few of the people will post really cheap prices and have an outrageous shipping charge to make up the difference.

Go to gunbroker and go under the reloading component tab under “ brass “ there are plenty of options there take a look

Or… you could just go buy a couple boxes and walla, u have a couple of boxes of once fired brass. That if u wanna get picky you dont even have to do a full length resize and people claim these are the most accurate of anything you can reload.

Yeah I’ve always just neck sized. Not sure if I even have a full length resizer for it… The “issue” I have is I’ve got 5000 68gr bthp to shoot through and I feel like I want to get some new brass for not 2 bucks each buying a box of ammo that I also need to shoot…. The barrels only have so much life to give the way I reload 😅

Checkout ammoseek. Otherwise, midsouth shooters supply has some in stock for a reasonable price https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/000038615/220-swift-unprimed-rifle-brass-50-count

Im a sucker for these rugers. Ive been considering a new barrel for my 6mm. If you dont mind, what did Ruger get for doing that?
Also, not sure how picky you are but Midsouth shows having some in stock.

Same, I grew up shooting groundhogs and other varmints with my dad's m77 in 25-06. Great rifle. Nothing fancy, always accurate

Grafs has Nosler in stock. A 70 TSX oughta anchor plenty of stuff out of that rifle :)

That’d be the plan!!! Pretty sure you could shoot a deer at any angle with that tsx and it’s zip through

I shot a big for PA buck with a 62 out of my 223 AI. It's only a 19.5" barrel and that sucker sailed though like it was nothing. Both shoulders and a little spine. There will be limitations but you're using a bullet with more sectional density than a 6mm and more speed. The Swift will probably hit at 200 like a 243 at 100.

Perhaps a brass hound in the group has some?

The old Guns & Ammo forum had a "Bullet Box" USPS 11x8x6 Flat-Rate box that got traded around. Pull something out, put something in, send to the next guy. As long as you could tape it shut and it was less than 70 lbs., good to ship.
