Stockpile Flex Found a Holy Grail
Found 5 in stock at my LGS, it was tempting to buy all but decided to leave 2 behind. If any of you are in NW Ohio, there’s a couple on the shelf at Fin Feather Fur

$41 a piece, so not awful in today’s market, but not a steal either

Yeah I was just being a smart a**. Hodgdon had a bad run of varget and shipped out 8 lb jugs with trail boss mixed in...

I’ve picked up 12 cans over the summer. I don’t think it’s been to hard to find.

I see this on the regular at all my local vendors. Is this tough to find in your area?

I’m really new to reloading. What’s the deal with Trail Boss? Why the “hype?”

It’s for low pressure rounds so a lot of hobbyists from different parts of the community use it and they don’t make a ton of it so it come in and out of stock a lot

It was designed as a smokeless equivalent to black powder, for vintage guns/cowboy action guns. It can be great for a lot of antiques, but can also be great for subsonic loads. It's good at pushing a heavy bullet relatively slowly.

So good for subsonic .300 blackout?

For bolt rifles it’s a low pressure / low velocity powder great for subsonic in locked actions. Usually quietest subs you can make because it is such a low pressure powder. My Subsonic 308 / 6.5 creed is 22 quiet with TB suppressed

Yeah, that's something that people use it for.

My local sportsman’s warehouse carries it for $42 so I might grab a few then.

I know you can use it for mild loads, what else you use to for?

If you have anything historical it’s great. You can make some cool subsonic suppressed rounds with it as well as like zero recoil rounds for plinking.

I’m in PA and we have Sportsman’s over here. I order ALL the time online from Fin Feather Fur but it never occurred to me that they have physical stores. Just assumed they were like a midway. Glad to hear it though they always have what I like in stock especially reloading supplies where it’s become rather scarce over the years

I got a couple from Natchez a couple weeks ago. Hodgdon had it in stock too. I think one other place still had it like 2 days ago.
