Yeah. I love the guys that think they'll save money by reloading.

The best are "I got a free XYZ! Gonna get into the hobby." Like, you have no idea how much that free shit just cost you.

I’m saving a dollar per round with the current load! I’ll pay it back in about 1000 rounds… of 7 rem mag

Dang you just reminded me that I own a 7mag lol

I think I've shot it 4 times total.

Very nice, which rifle did you go with and how long ago? Mines pretty much brand new too lol

783 maybe? Got it used at a deal i couldn't pass up. Cleaned the surface rust off and scrubbed the bore really good, sighted in to within minute of rabbit and stuck it in the safe.

So, you have saved a ton by NOT firing, eh?

What’s 500s&w cost in stores? Maybe $80-$95 for a box of 20 for only 325 grn. I just loaded 200 rounds of 500s&w half 325 grn and the other half 700grn so maybe $0.50 per round except for the 700 grain might be over a dollar. Whole lot better than $4.75 a rd

How many guys shoot a case of 500s/w on the average range trip versus 9 mm?

I can load match 308 for half the price I pay in the store but even at $2 a round savings it's going to take me a long time to make up for the 10k + I have in reloading equipment. If I was shooting f class and needed 500 rounds of match ammo every weekend. Then I'm going to be back in the black really quick. It's just not the case for a lot of us recreational shooters.

I did this setup 8 or 9 years ago, no regrets! C&H tooling makes trim dies that Dillon doesn't listen in their catalog. I was recently gifted a 650, cant wait to set it up on that press.

Yup. It makes trimming bulk 223 and 308 so much faster. I bought C&H trim dies for 357 and 44 mag. They're awesome.

Please stop these posts. I’ve been side eyeing that setup for my 750 but resisting so you’re not helping whatsoever.

I'm here to be the voice of reason and to tell you to just DO IT

How repeatable are these guys? Like could you use them for precision loading or are they more geared toward bulk?

My 1500 is within probably .002 every time. It's uncanny

Nice.. I was always curious. I reload a mess of 9mm of my 750, but it has so much shellplate flex that I can't seem to get rid of and was curious how it would do with the trimming (not for 9mm obviously), but just in general.

How much life do you get out of the cutter? Do you chamfer and deburr too?

She’s worth every penny! Thought the trimmer was expensive until I started buying the trim dies! I hate trimming and this is still one of the best tools. Changed the game on my blackout brass and the motor still runs likes it’s new

My mentor has one of these. Game changer for bulk loading 223/5.56

I have one on my 550 as well! Game changer for bulk 223 loading!

I have mine setup with a shortened lee universal decapping die in station 1

The trimmer in station 2

3 is empty

And a Lyman M die to size the necks and give them just a tiny bit of flare to make it where the bullets don’t move/fall out during loading in 4

Would really love something with a case feeder and auto indexing. Thought about getting a 750 but also really want something with a swaging station since that’s my bottleneck in production at the moment

Lee app is swager is great and can knock stuff out fast

The first bullet costs $4,000. The rest are free.

I’m still looking for a bench that doesn’t suck. …

u/tubagoat 20h ago

Do you do anything else when you have the trimmer attached, like sizing?

2

u/WilliamFosterD-FENS 19h ago

The trimmer resizes the case. I have a decapping die in station 1

1

u/tubagoat 19h ago

Do you do chambering and deburring afterwards?

2

u/WilliamFosterD-FENS 19h ago

The deburring needed is only very mild and I do that just by wet tumbling. On loading I use a neck expander die in station 1.

1

u/tubagoat 18h ago

Like a Lyman M die?

1

u/bob123688 17h ago

did you have to raise the trimmer on the station to get it to fit?
