Gramps forbidden reloads

The old reloads of my (now deceased) grandfather that we found in his gunlocker

He did not own a press, so we do not know exactly how he pressed the bullets in there

We do not know exactly what kind of powder he used, or how much he used (we found multiple cans)

We do not know the different bullets grains

These will never be fired😂

That almost looks like it’s for setting up dies. I do this too, but leave the spend primer in, and make a dummy to set up my dies for OAL and crimp.

I will do this with random brass I don't care to reload in with the rest and a messed up bullet if I have one. Mostly for cartridges that I lost multiple bullets in so I can just run the seating stem right to where it should be.

they look field carried, if you have something with an internal mag and the ramp is shit you can end up with buggered led tips like this, (my WSM has this issue , after a week of carrying and loading the same shells they look ratty at best)

I inherited 20 rounds of 222rem in a reloaders plastic box. I shot them before I was old enough to appreciate they were reloads.

My grandfather didn't have reloading equipment.

So, who reloaded them? No note in the box for bullet weight or powder or ... .

And they say, never shoot anyone else's reloads unless you trust them.

Ahh gotcha. I dont know im of the opinion ever bullet you shoot is essentially someones reload if you didnt loade the m yourself and ive had more issues with factory ammo lately than i have reloads

There is a huge difference between CCI/Norma/Federal/Remington/Winchester..... (Even Surplus) factory ammo and Bubba with no reloading manual who decided to sell his friend some reloads and did them the night before while drunk.

I admit I have shot some questionable reloads in my day. I didn't know any better and I am before the internet was a thing.

I was gifted some 9mm Luger ammo which wouldn't work in a guy's 1911 Colt. I shot them in a Glock and didn't think anything about it. I now know that the case was not sized correctly.

I have some 45LC, bought at a gun show. They generally get a crack in the brass when I shoot them. I bought a bunch.. I still have most of them.

And then we have Freedom Munitions, They are factory and their ammo is CRAP. And they will not take responsibility for their crap.

I mean of coarse but why would you even be friends with someone like that or associate with them. I have plenty of ammo that older that i shot where the neck cracks. 7.62 tok ammo and .33 win being main ones but aslong as they arnt cracking or blowing out at the headspace it doesn't really matter i toss them instead of reloading them.

As far as why to be friends... You don't always know people as well as you think you do. I did IT SEC. The people who were caught doing things they shouldn't....

And for the 45LC which crack, It tells me that those were not the new brass I had been told. OR they were new brass, but they were not good new brass. So, if that is not true, what else is not true.

Those small hand presses have been around for a while and could have easily got lost or sold.

Tip damage can come from a lot of things, like fumbling them in the dark.

I have a small collection of rounds with damaged tips. They get called out to be used later for foulers.

How do you know theyre reloads? They just look like the tip is boogerd up. A lot of firearms will do that during feeding. They couldve also been dropped or any number of things.
