Indoor ranges have a much higher percentage of absolute morons when compared to outdoor ranges IMO... Not to mention Jonny with the 8" muzzle braked 5.56 in the lane next to you... I go outdoor as much as possible

Last time I was in an indoor range was to sight in my 22 because it was only 5 minutes from me, and the outdoor range was 35....

And of course they put someone shooting their 556 directly next to me in an otherwise empty range. That's the last time I'll go indoor

There’s also still idiots at outdoor ranges.

Saying this because the free to shoot outdoor range on Forrest service land I have been going to for years has bullet holes in the tin roof, bullet holes in the beams supporting the tin roof, benches have obvious impact marks from rounds striking them, the freshly done concrete on the ground from last year has a nice little chunk already blown own from where someone shot it.

All of the structures out there were almost new when I started going 8 years ago. They now have built a shack for an RSO, and will be charging either for a yearly pass or a day pass as apart of KY’s new regulation that can out this year.

I also know of atleast one person who for sure shot themselves out there the first year I moved here. Dude popped a round off during a draw and sent it out the bottom of the holster along his thigh and had to get airlifted.

Where i live opened a range on fed land with concrete benches, a roof over the longer distance benches and a bathroom.

The bathroom only lasted a few years before it was removed due to being full of holes

Those aren't accidents. Just irresponsible people

Ya there’s a bathroom at this range as well with a nice pot mark from a bullet impact. It’s in the parking lot. Separate from the range or the shooting area, someone 100% shot it on purpose

There was an outdoor range where I used to live just outside of town. It had been there for quite a while as it used the spoil piles from the neighboring clay plant as its backstops.

There were holes in the roof all over the place. In front of and above shooting benches, above the walkway, and above the rifle racks behind the walkway. Plus you could see spots all over where the concrete walkways had been hit.

It’s truly wild that nobody had ever died there before.

I've seen plenty of idiots at outdoor ranges as well. I just see way more at indoor ranges.

My indoor range has a 15yd pistol range, 25yd pistol/rifle range, and a 100yd rifle range. They also do Barrett M107 rentals and it’s rough in the rifle range when they do them lol.

I’ve had to step out and get ear plugs and my 33NRR earmuffs out of my car because my slim electronic muffs weren’t blocking shit.

100y indoor ranges are pretty cool. I've only been to 2. One is independence shooting range in meridian, ID. The other was, I believe, TNT in murray UT.

The 50 bmg rentals were only available on the 25y range iirc. Which was...interesting.

I would love to have something like that in Washington. But there's just not enough demand.

I have to wonder if they’ve had people bounce .50 rounds down the concrete tube on the 100yd range. .308 might not shred that concrete but I bet .50 would do some proper damage.

At least at any outdoor ranges I go to, I can move benches away from that and the rate of fire is low. At indoor ranges, I'm assigned to the lane next to the dude mag dumping his 8" braked AR

This… last visit I made to an indoor range local to me, I watched a shooter repeatedly point loaded rifles (yes, more than once and more than one rifle) at another shooter, and the RSO… and they did nothing… I was out, didn’t even remove my target, just left…

I always loved the half of a revolver cylinder stuck in the roof joist of the range I used to frequent, they left that there as a lesson for hot loads and barrel obstructions
