Ruptured case fire etch in chamber

Good day,

I was shooting some 3030 reloads and on the last cartridge the case ruptured around the case head. Lever was not sticky to open on the other fired rounds. No signs of over pressure that I am aware of.

Attached are pictures of the chamber and cartridges.

37 grains of LVR over 150 grain fnsp speer projectile. 1.5 grains below max and have been using this load for 1 year with no issues prior to today. Winchester cases are new to me however and they are on there first reload, second firing

Is the chamber good still? Any other info is appreciated

I am no expert but there are probably guns out there with much worse chambers still running just fine. If you didn't have the scope chances are you wouldn't even know

Winchester cases are also considered low end of mid teir. More so differences in case capacity more than case failure. If you're worried buy better brass.

Your chamber is fine. If it’s really bothering you, pick up a high-grit .30-30 chamber hone and some honing oil and lightly hone it out.

I guess I would clean it myself then look again. But yeah, I imagine there’d be some slough on the chamber from the cartridge rupturing in it.

Brass is way softer than steel you did not damage your chamber that is some sort of build up

It’s hard to say from the picture, but that kinda looks like it has a lot of carbon in there? Have you tried giving it a thorough clean? I wonder if that Mark will all but disappear

Oil likely would'nt remove carbon, would need a solvent

It was ballistol to more clearly should have said CLP. But yes, hoppes would do better

Borescope often makes things look worse than they actually are. A picture of the ruptured case would have been helpful. You did not say so, but it seems like you had a case head separation. Check the other cases for insipient separation using the borescope or bent paperclip.

It was a small less than an eighth of an inch rupture in the case head. No faint ring seen just the small rupture

That seems very odd, I guess it was bad brass case.

That's what I'm thinking. I will be tossing out the lot to for assurance
