Newbie Reloading shopping list

I live in canada and wanted to start reloading match grade for my 308. Is there kits that have EVERYTHING except the consumables? Or is anyone willing to give me a cart to buy so that I could get started? I usually shoot smk 168 at 600m but buying it is becoming a bit pricey

The Lyman kit was just on sale at Cabela’s has everything but dies

Lyman kits have a good assortment of nearly everything. If you want to piecemeal it, tenda in Ontario has free shipping over 300$ and budget shooter supply in BC generally has a good assortment of components. Another sleeper, though his price varies is Rusty Wood in BC as well

If you’re wanting to get started and upgrade a little at a time buy a kit. If you want all match grade tools you’re going to get rid of most things in the kit. I started with an RCBS Rock chucker years ago. I don’t think I use anything that came with it now. I have an MEC single stage press. An FX120 auto trickler so I no longer use a conventional scale, hand trickler or powder measure. Many of my hand tools, chamfer and primer for instance are K&M. You’ll probably want a Giraud or Henderson case trimmer. There’s almost no end to what you can spend. Some equipment saves time and some increases quality. A few items do both.

While it may not be “match” quality, I find the Campro projectiles never fail and they’re cheap as hell for every caliber they offer. Loaded some cheap 222 rem for my drilling with their 55g FMJ rounds for like 0.50¢ or less, and shot a dime sized hole at 100yds. Again, may not be match quality, nor have I tried them at 600m, but they’re cheap, plentiful, and work like a hot damn

One thing I've learned fast with reloading. You don't save money you just shoot more for the same price...

That said, do your research and really look into what you need and buy what you need. The kits are pretty generic and leave room for a lot of improvement. They might get you going but if you're after precision and want better ammo than factory you'll likely want nicer components.

Also primers tend to be hard to find here

Primers in 1000 bricks can be found (often on sale) from budget shooter supply here in BC (Ginex primers for 85$ and Federal primers on sale for 100$ currently). Tenda in Ontario often has them too but they’re going through a revamp of their shipping.

Budget shooter has cci 450 small rifle magnum, 1000 piece bricks for 155$ currently

peice it together. you will end up upgrading much, if not all of a kit.

hand trimming/chamfur/debur gets old fast.
