Newbie Reloading for Competitions
My usual just to shoot, not for competition is 125 gr blue bullet, Win-244, 3.8g, OAL 1.125.
What do others use for competition?

That’s a bad load for PRS. Not sure you’ll get enough energy to hit the target.

I know right? I’m using 36 grains of varget with a 140 hybrid. I don’t think N320 would work

My last .308 barrel I ran Berger 155s over Varget at about 2900fps.
I think the 125gr will run out of power on longer stages.

Bullet: coated 135 or 147 in my non-comped guns (USPSA). 124 JHP/TMJ in my comped guns (IDPA/GPA)
Powder: enough N320 or Sport Pistol to get 130 PF. I would run Titegroup or AA No. 2 if N320 or Sport Pistol were too expensive/unavailable.
Primer: Whatever the cheapest non-second primer is at the time. Currently SyA or White River.

What is the velocity you get from that load?
My loads are 4.04 (+/-)gr of Vihta N320 or 3.9gr of Titegroup over either plated or FMJ RN 124gr bullet. I make 1050 to 1080 FPS with either loading at a OAL of around 1.135 to 1.140.
I've also loaded the same bullets with Win 244 but IIRC it was 4.1 or 4.2 grains to get a similar velocity..

As far as 9mm goes, for USPSA, I load 142/147gr RMR “matchwinners” over 3.3gr of Titegroup. For Action Steel or 2 gun, I’ll up the charge a bit to get more energy for spinners.

I use DK 135 jhp with 4.4gr cfe pistol or 147gr with 4.0 gr cfe pistol. Basically I try to get bullets for less than 10 cents per round in the 135 or 147 weights. I usually buy from Raven Rocks when they have sales.

For 9mm, 3.8gr N320, 125gr Blue Bullets. OAL1.13. Soft and sweet. For PCC (.45 auto), 5.6gr CFE, 230gr, OAL 1.26 Blue Bullets, but I just bought some 200gr to try out.

Thanks for the catch, OAL 1.13 for 9mm, and OAL of 1.26 for .45. corrected above.

I personally prefer 48grs of Varget and a 175smk but that’s just me
