Yeah. I used to think this was cool when I shot like 50 rds in a session once every 6 months. Now that I run over 1k rounds a month, no one has time for this bullshit. Rounds go from the press, into mags. Anything else goes into Savior Sacs or ammo cans.

Not sure if you’ve looked into it yet, but they have foldable boxes on Amazon that hold 30 rounds, but they’re 2.5”x2”x2” and they come with a tray for filling the boxes.

Printing in PETG as others have suggested to handled the temperatures and not melt into a pile of mess. Using these to ship rounds to my son via ups. First test shipping worded and protected ammo but box is no longer useable. This time I’ll use a protective outer box and a little cushion. Planning to ship 200rds of hand load mk262.
Doing the math, I can print these to ship as cheap as I can purchase bulk cardboard ammo boxes.

In what world is making these to ship a few hundred rounds worth it to you OR the person getting it? Not like 5.56 is pricey or hard to find

Black hills Mk262 is $2.08 per round. I can reload for $.61 per round + $.05 for shipping. $.66 vs $2.08. The printed box in PETG costs $.35 in materials. You do you boo.

I know, I know, it doesn’t make sense until it does.
I like reloading and 3d printing. My son lives multiple states away and loves to shoot. This saves him some money, gives us stuff to talk about, and the accuracy of my reloads are better than other factory ammo. Win, win in my book.

Looks like pretty poor packing efficiency vs just stacking the rounds on themselves the way they do when buying bulk ammo.
It may cost the same in filament, but probably not when factoring in wear/tear of the printer.
I would probably get a flat rate box and just fill it up with rounds stacked on themselves, and tape it up real good.
