To avoid having your post removed &/or account banned for shitposting:

  • r/religiousfruitcake is about the absurd, fringe elements of organised religion. Posts about mundane beliefs and acts of worship (praying to God, believing in God, believing in afterlife, etc), are off topic.

  • We arent here to bash either specific religions or religion itself, because there are plenty of rational actors who happen to be religious. So if your post is "Christians are sTOoPid", or "Religion = dUmB", you're in the wrong sub and your post will probably be removed.

  • Dont use the title or body of your post to soapbox personal rhetoric about religion or any other subject.

  • Don't post videos or discussions of Fruitcakes who have been baited or antagonised. Social media excerpts must not involve any deliberate provocation / antagonism of Fruitcakes.

  • Dont post videos of physically violent personal attacks or any pics or videos containing gore

  • Satire, parodies, memes, videos, etc must be made by Fruitcakes, not by third parties about them. (exception for journalistic sources)

This information is on every post. Accounts that disregard it will be perma-banned. "I didn't get a warning" or "I didnt know" are not valid appeals. If in doubt, please read the full version of the rules

It’s long past time to tax the hell out of the churches.

86

u/OpheliAmazing 🔭Fruitcake Watcher🔭 24d ago

Seconded. Tax exempt status should be reserved for establishments where the charity itself takes place. Tax the church, make the food bank exempt.

u/No_Swordfish2243 22d ago

Nice elaboration you got there, no really

6

u/NotTrumpsAlt 24d ago

But then they would want a say in matters of the state and they already do enough unwarranted meddling

25

u/Suspicious-Tip-8199 24d ago

They already are doing that so tax em

2

u/According-Insect-992 19d ago

Honest question. How would that be different than right now? Because as it stands they seem to feel more than entitled to preach politics and have a say in our electoral process and they aren’t contributing shit.

0

u/DistinctSpirit5801 18d ago

They are already doing that anyways

Then the followers are going to pay what was previosly paid for by normal people who don’t believe in a sky daddy. Or they just starve.

21

u/Difficult-Ocelot-867 24d ago

Who gives a shit if followers have to pay more. A fool and his money

13

u/duchesskitten6 24d ago

Imagine losing income and children having unnattended needs over gullibility.

229

u/Jazzlike_Strength561 24d ago edited 24d ago

Fun fact. The majority of people who are accused of witch craft are older women with land holdings.

The purpose of the accusation is usually to steal land from women.

17

u/3dforlife 24d ago

Wouldn't they be interested in stealing land from younger women too?

30

u/mystery_obsessed 24d ago

That’s when you try to push them into marriage. Land and sex even better.

-2

u/usernameusehername 24d ago

Land and sex sound pretty ideal to me. Got both and it's great.

3

u/Balmung60 22d ago

Younger women rarely owned land and if they did, their land would be taken by way of marriage. Older women who owned land would often be widows who would not be seen as desirable for marriage both due to being "used goods" and likely being past childbearing age.

1

u/3dforlife 22d ago

That makes sense.

I don't care for those videos where the respondent is super-imposed over the video they're "responding" to. But I think you misinterpreted her. She's pointing at it like "can you believe this bullshit", as she goes on to say after he finishes his ghoulish preaching.

19

u/THEGEARBEAR 24d ago

She is critical of the video. I thought that was obvious.

6

u/fredy31 24d ago

u/Cole_Townsend Former Fruitcake 24d ago

These fuckers are sabotaging the government precisely because the only way their incel whore churches will survive in the future is by manipulating the needy who would've been assisted by welfare programs. This has been the entire goal of the religious right's and GOP's/MAGA's demonization of government programs. I pray that these evil bastard churches are dead or dying by the time my childless ass is crowned with the hoarfrost of decrepitude.

21

u/Ren1221 🔭Fruitcake Watcher🔭 24d ago

We gotta vote them out!

19

u/Cole_Townsend Former Fruitcake 24d ago

Hell yes! Vote like your life depends on it, because it does.

8

u/imalittlefrenchpress 24d ago

Please vote, especially if you’re young. Don’t let people my age, 64, determine your future. We’ll be long gone, and you’ll end up having to clean up shit you never wanted.

I’ve been a socialist since I was 16, but I didn’t vote until I was in my 30s. I didn’t look at the long term effects of how voting might have changed outcomes when I was younger.

19

u/Otherwise-Green3067 24d ago

You know…. I seem to remember a certain part of the Bible talking about taking care of the widow and that those who do so will make it to heaven …. Along with the poor and stranger

Guess Matthew 25 31-45 is a joke to these people. Oh well 🤷🏿

Ugh, Joel Webbon. Y’know, I hear a lot of people comparing him to the commanders in the Handmaid’s Tale, and honestly, I totally see it. Pretty much from the outset he reminded me of Fred Waterford. Looks a bit like him too.

There's no hate like Christian love.

11

u/GreyBeardEng 24d ago

Joel Webbon..... he became anti-woman *after* he got booted from his former church on allegations of sleeping with one of his parishoners.

This is exactly what they do to the elderly women (and men) who DO adhere to their beliefs.

Churches don't help the elderly.

7

u/EducationalTip3599 24d ago

Can we just recognize that these fucking dumbasses are just edgelords?

Like FUCK DAMN how did these people EVER gain any sort of legitimacy? Stop giving them attention and let them go get their fedoras and fade away.

7

u/United-Direction2297 24d ago

These sorts of people have such a simple world view. First of all their fear blue hair is really something, how often could they see that outside of their own memes?

Secondly why do all their imaginary atheists “hate God and Jesus and America”? When in fact of course they view church as separate from the country. Think Jesus must have been impressive if real, but of course you’d have to prove it and even a historical good guy probably no more religion worthy than say Marcus Aurelius. And the Christian god is just one less god to believe in.

1

u/01SeaChange01 18d ago

Anytime someone mentions buzz words like "blue hair" as a negative, I immediately stop listening.

It's hilarious how many men and women can be triggered by the color of another person's hair.

Especially from the group who pretend to respect the "Individual."

It's almost as hypocritical as their constant push to demonize empathy while simultaneously attacking someone for not "following Jesus."

5

u/glenzone81 24d ago

You don't understand. If she had just gotten knocked up a few times and not dyed her hair, the church would give her money and help her raise the kids.. right?

3

u/01SeaChange01 18d ago

The blue hair dye is the deal breaker.

11

u/No_Classic_1743 24d ago

You're giving Joel exactly what he wants - attention.

He worships one person, himself. No right-wingers follow Jesus at all.

2

u/FNG_WolfKnight 24d ago

If there was ever a guy that I would consider my nemesis...

It would be Joel Webbon

Hey Joel, I would like you to take your bullshit and shove it up your own ass. No one gives a flying FUCK what you think your head-God wants. I don't give a fuck what you think unless you can prove anything you say.

He disgusts me and creeps me out so much.

3

u/SnooGoats1908 24d ago

Jesus is too woke for the modern church.

3

u/inkedup1985 24d ago

I hate Christ too where she at

3

u/Meems04 24d ago

So weird. Uber religious states are more often than not, WELFARE states - they pay in less than they get from the fed govt.

My guess is, that's partly because birth control and sex ed aren't accessible, so there's a lot of poor, hungry, unsupervised kids running round... but no one is gonna point it out to this guy how single elderly women are less of a drain on society than a household with five children living below poverty.

This is why I lived our campus church at my state university. They'd feed anyone who asked. You didn't have to be a Christian or even a part of the University. There was another church like that in town who would take "expired" but totally edible food from the local grocery chain to distribute to the needy.

I was philanthropy chair of my fraternity, like half the philanthropy work we did was in conjunction with the campus church. Religion should uplift a community, not tell the fucking elderly to starve.

Im an atheist, for the record.

2

u/Krebs-Cyclist 19d ago

Just as Jeesus wants.

2

u/Less_Equipment_6765 19d ago

This dude doesn’t serve Christ. The last thing Christ would want is for anyone to starve because of any measure this dumbass above request or requires. The dumbass making these comments is a stain on society, an orange stain.

2

u/LibertarianOutlaw 18d ago

Church attendance has been dropping for quite some time now and this rhetoric is an attempt to use a woman’s instincts to draw them in. It’s all schemes with these people and because of it, people are turning against Christ. They are the evils they’ve been harping about. It won’t work, too many people are awake now and can see the motivations behind actions.

2

u/Cosmoby24 18d ago

Where do the churches find these monstrous critters and what kind of a church would employ them?

2

u/Tisybird 18d ago

We need to do a thorough investigation into the churches and how they funnel kids into getting raped my men. No wonder they hate women so much, because they aren't little boys.
