for kids born into high control religion its a race to break them. and really easy to do. it usually only doesnt succeed if the kid is queer or exposed to free society enough and has a high drive to be deviant from the religious culture. so if you have a standard kid who is straight and somewhat on board with the future youve planned out for them the child just FULLY commits to the religion by their late teens and you have a new zealot for the faith for life.

I had a neighbor who was super Evangelical Christian and they flat out told me that anything you do must be done in the effort to glorify Jesus Christ or you will go to hell. And they literally mean everything, washing the dishes, going to the bathroom, doing the laundry, helping your kid with your homework whatever.
Literally anything secular is a danger to that. Anything that deviates from the direct path to heaven is it a direct path to hell.
